Ronald "Ron" Shaver (born June 16, 1951 in Galt, Ontario) [1] is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time Skate Canada International champion and the 1977 Canadian national champion.
Shaver won the novice title at the 1966 Canadian Championships, the first year that level was contested at the national championships. After winning the senior silver medal at the 1973 Canadian Nationals, he was sent to Bratislava, Czechoslovakia to compete at his first World Championships; he finished eighth overall after placing 12th in figures, sixth in the short program, and fourth in the free skate.
Shaver's best World result came at the 1974 World Championships in Munich, West Germany. He ranked seventh in figures, second in the short, third in the free, and fifth overall. He pulled a groin muscle in the 1974–75 season. [2] He finished eighth at the 1975 World Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Shaver represented Canada at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria. He withdrew after placing sixth in figures and third in the short. [1] In 1977, he became the Canadian national champion. Making his final amateur appearance, he placed sixth at the 1977 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Jan Hoffmann is a German figure skater who represented East Germany in competition. A four-time Olympian, he is the 1980 Olympic silver medalist, the 1974 & 1980 World Champion, and a four-time European Champion.
Susanna Driano is an American-Italian former competitive figure skater who competed for Italy. She is the 1978 World bronze medalist, a two-time European bronze medalist, and a six-time Italian national champion (1975–80).
Mirai Aileen Nagasu is a Japanese-American figure skater. She is a three-time Four Continents medalist, the 2007 JGP Final champion, a two-time World Junior medalist, and a seven-time U.S. national medalist.
Andrejs Vlaščenko is a figure skater who represented Latvia (1992–94) and Germany (1994–04). Competing for Germany, he won two Grand Prix medals – bronze at both the 2001 Trophee Lalique and at the 1998 Sparkassen Cup on Ice – and became a four-time German national champion. In 1998, he placed fourth at the European Championships in Milan and fifth at the World Championships in Minneapolis.
Vanessa James is a French-Canadian former competitive pair skater. With her skating partner, Morgan Ciprès, she is the 2019 European Champion, the 2018 World bronze medalist, the 2017 European bronze medalist, the 2018 Grand Prix Final champion and a six-time French national champion. They have also won medals in Grand Prix and Challenger Series competitions. James and Ciprès represented France at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics.
Heather Kemkaran-Antymniuk is a Canadian former competitive figure skater who competed in ladies' singles. She is the 1977 Vienna Trophy champion, the 1977 Skate Canada International bronze medalist, and a two-time Canadian national champion. She competed at the 1980 Winter Olympics.
