In baseball, a no-hitter is a game in which a team was not able to record a single hit through conventional means. Major League Baseball (MLB) officially defines a no-hitter as a completed game in which a team that batted in at least nine innings recorded no hits. A pitcher who prevents the opposing team from achieving a hit is said to have "thrown a no-hitter". In most cases, no-hitters are recorded by a single pitcher who throws a complete game; one thrown by two or more pitchers is a combined no-hitter.

Donald James Cooper is an American former pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) who spent parts of four seasons with the Minnesota Twins (1981–1982), Toronto Blue Jays (1983) and New York Yankees (1985). He was the pitching coach for the Chicago White Sox from July 22, 2002 until the end of the 2020 season. Under his tutelage, both Mark Buehrle and Philip Humber pitched perfect games, Lucas Giolito pitched a no-hitter, and the White Sox won the 2005 World Series. On October 12, 2020, Cooper and the Chicago White Sox parted ways after 32 seasons with the organization at various levels.

Philip Humber of the Chicago White Sox pitched a perfect game against the Seattle Mariners by retiring all 27 batters he faced on Saturday, April 21, 2012, as the White Sox defeated the Mariners 4–0. It was the 21st perfect game in Major League Baseball (MLB) history and the third by a member of the White Sox. It was Humber's first career complete game, although he had come close to achieving no-hitters on several occasions at several levels of organized baseball. The game was played in Seattle and broadcast regionally by Fox Sports in the two teams' metropolitan areas.

Ryan Michael Bollinger is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Rakuten Monkeys of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). He previously played for the Fubon Guardians of the CPBL. In 2018, he was promoted to the major leagues by the New York Yankees, but he did not appear in a game.
