Samurai Gourmet is a twelve-part 2017 Japanese-language television series on Netflix, based on Masayuki Kusumi's essay and the manga of the same title. The premise revolves around Takeshi Kasumi (Naoto Takenaka), told in a slice of life style. Now a retired salaryman, Kasumi discovers the joys of eating and drinking, which awakens his inner persona—a wandering samurai living freely in Japan's age of civil wars. [1] [2] [3]

Takenaka Shigeharu, who was also known as Hanbei (半兵衛), was a Japanese samurai during the Sengoku period of the 16th century. Hanbei was the castle lord in command of Bodaiyama Castle. He was a chief strategist and adviser of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. His father was a local samurai Takenaka Shigemoto. Laugh and Pon! (Waratepon) was a Japanese variety show that was broadcast on the TBS network every Wednesday from 19:00 to 19:54 from July 6, 1983, to September 28, 1983.
