Red Shadow is a 2001 Japanese samurai film directed by Hiroyuki Nakano. The film stars Masanobu Andō in the title role and features a guest star appearance of Tomoyasu Hotei returning from the 1998 spin-off and virtual prequel Samurai Fiction. The film is loosely based on the 1960s manga Kamen no Ninja Akakage.
Takenaka Shigeharu, who was also known as Hanbei (半兵衛), was a Japanese samurai during the Sengoku period of the 16th century. Hanbei was the castle lord in command of Bodaiyama Castle. He was a chief strategist and adviser of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. His father was a local samurai Takenaka Shigemoto. Oishinbo is a long-running Japanese cooking manga series written by Tetsu Kariya and drawn by Akira Hanasaki. The manga's title is a portmanteau of the Japanese word for delicious, oishii, and the word for someone who loves to eat, kuishinbo. The series depicts the adventures of culinary journalist Shirō Yamaoka and his partner, Yūko Kurita. It was published by Shogakukan between 1983 and 2008 in Big Comic Spirits, and resumed again on February 23, 2009, only to be put on an indefinite hiatus after the May 12, 2014, edition in the weekly Big Comic Spirits following harsh criticism of Oishinbo's treatment of the Fukushima Daiichi disaster.
Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai is a 2011 Japanese 3D jidaigeki drama film directed by Takashi Miike. It was produced by Jeremy Thomas and Toshiaki Nakazawa, who previously teamed with Miike on his 2010 film 13 Assassins. The film is a 3D remake of Masaki Kobayashi's 1962 film Harakiri.

Samurai Marathon is a 2019 Japanese-British historical action adventure film co-written and directed by Bernard Rose and starring Takeru Satoh, Nana Komatsu and Mirai Moriyama. It is based on the 2014 novel The Marathon Samurai: Five Tales of Japan’s First Marathon by Akihiro Dobashi, itself inspired by the origin story of the Ansei Toashi 30-km footrace held annually in Annaka City.
Food Luck is a 2020 Japanese drama film written and directed by Jimon Terakado of the comedy trio Dachou Club. The plot centers on Yoshito Sato, a freelance writer who was born into a family that ran a popular yakiniku restaurant and now embarks on a food journey to find the flavors of home, with young reporter Shizuka Takenaka. It stars Naoto and Tao Tsuchiya, with Ken Ishiguro, Satoru Matsuo, Yasufumi Terawaki, Hakuryu and Ryo in supporting roles. Some scenes were shot in several actual yakiniku restaurants around Japan that Terakado Jimon loved and recommended as a gourmet.
