Still Cruisin' is the twenty-sixth studio album by the Beach Boys, their thirty-fifth official album, and their last release of the 1980s. It is also the last album of new material released during a brief return to Capitol Records.
God Lives Underwater was an American rock band, formed during 1993 in Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania by vocalist/programmer David Reilly and guitarist/programmer Jeff Turzo. They were later joined by guitarist Andrew McGee and drummer Adam Kary. After recording a self-titled EP in late 1993 and self-distributing it the following year, the band signed to Rick Rubin's label American Recordings, and the EP was nationally released in early 1995. Later that same year, the band released the full-length album Empty. God Lives Underwater then signed with A&M Records and released Life in the So-Called Space Age in 1998, which spawned their most successful single "From Your Mouth". After a period of internal issues and label shifts, the band's final album was released in 2004, Up Off the Floor. Reilly then unexpectedly died at the age of 34 on October 16, 2005.

Michael Darren Mahaffey was a founding member of the power pop band Self. Founded with his brother, Matt Mahaffey, in the early 1990s, Self-released two major-label albums and various independent and Internet-only albums. He played lead guitar, keyboards, and bass for the band on various occasions. Before joining Self, he played in several bands, the most successful of which was the Southern Rock band Blackfish. He played lead guitar in the band, but contributed little to the songwriting. Blackfish released one major-label album in 1992 before disbanding. The other members of Blackfish were Steve Ballard, Chris Reublin and Andy Howard. His last recorded work was on Self's Ornament & Crime.
Oceansize were an English rock band from Manchester, formed in 1998. The band consisted of Mike Vennart, Steve Durose, Richard "Gambler" Ingram, Mark Heron (drums) and Jon Ellis for the majority of its career, with Steve Hodson replacing Ellis on bass guitar in 2006.

The two have been longtime friends since a mix-up of their bands on MTV. Partly due to the unfortunate deaths of David Reilly from GLU and Mike Mahaffey from Self, Matt and Jeff were able to shift their attention away from their other bands. Their debut album, Break out the Battle Tapes, came out on September 12, 2006.

The album was recorded in a marathon two week session with producer Richard Dortch in Jackson, Mississippi. All tracks were recorded live, with minimal overdubs. The album has a distinctive sound from other releases in the Ounces canon, and features mixing credits by Matt Mahaffey. The title of the album is the same as the last line of the chorus in the 1958 Brenda Lee song "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree".

It was the band’s first release since the B-side compilation Porno, Mint & Grime, ending a 9-year hiatus. The cover art was designed by Autumn and Brian Cutaia, winners of an art contest for the band.
Ornament and Crime is the seventh studio album by American rock band Self. Originally intended for release in August of 2003, it was pushed back a year to August 2004 until it was delayed indefinitely by the dissolution of Self's label, DreamWorks Records. It was eventually released independently thirteen years later, in August 2017, which also saw the physical release of previously Internet-only B-side album, Porno, Mint & Grime. Prior to this, Ornament and Crime was only legally available via streaming on Self's Myspace and YouTube channels.
