Shenaz Treasurywala (born 29 June 1981) [1] is an Indian actress and travel vlogger.

Career

Discovered by a photographer during her first year in college, her first modeling assignment was for the soft drink Gold Spot. [2] She also did advertising work for Akai and Philips before MTV Networks Asia hired her to work as a VJ on the MTV's Most Wanted program. [2] [3]

Her acting debut was in the 2001 Telugu film Eduruleni Manishi , [4] followed by the 2003 Bollywood film Ishq Vishk , [5] which earned her a nomination for the best supporting actress award by the Filmfare Film Awards. [6] With her lifelong love of travel, [3] [7] she wrote travel articles for Cosmopolitan , Elle , and Femina . [8] As of the early 2010s, Treasurywala resides in Mumbai, India and serves as the host of Culture Shock on the Travel Channel. [8] In 2011, she got a recurring role as Rama Patel on the American soap opera One Life to Live . A few months later, she signed a contract with the show until its cancellation in 2012 and then returned as a contract player when the show started airing its webisodes in 2013. [9]

Treasury' returned to India to visit her family and was offered a leading role in Ishq Vishk after meeting director Ken Ghosh at a Mumbai night club. [5] [7]

In 2009, she appeared in the films Aagey Se Right and Radio. She wrote the screenplay for and appeared in the 2011 movie Luv Ka The End . She also appeared in the movie Delhi Belly . She is part of the film Main Aur Mr. Riight .

During 2015, she was a contributor and occasional panelist on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore on Comedy Central in the United States. [10]

In 2017, she appeared in the critically acclaimed indie film The Big Sick where she played Kumail Nanjiani's sister-in-law.[ citation needed ]

She has also hosted All Women Special Wrestling Event "WWE Evolution" on 28 October 2018. [11] In addition to acting, she has now started to share her travel vlogs on YouTube and Instagram. [12]

Social activism

In December 2014, days before the release of her film Main Aur Mr. Riight (on 12 December), Shenaz Treasurywala wrote an open letter to the most powerful people of India including Narendra Modi, Sachin Tendulkar, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Anil Ambani on women's safety in India. Personal life

Her father is a merchant marine engineer, [8] and she was born in a Parsi family. Treasurywala attended school and college in Mumbai, [8] St. Xavier's College. [2] In 2001, she moved to New York City where she studied method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. [21] While in New York, she also took a writing course at NYU. [21]

Sooryavansham is a 1999 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan as Iqbal Aslam Khan, a railway coolie, who was separated from his mother Salma due to Zafar's obsession with her. This obsession causes the destruction of her family and her mental breakdown. Years later, fate unites her sons, Iqbal and Sunny and they set out to save Salma from Zafar's captivity. It also starred Rati Agnihotri, Shoma Anand, Suresh Oberoi and Puneet Issar.

<i>Khuda Gawah</i> 1992 Indian film

Khuda Gawah is a 1992 Indian epic drama film written and directed by Mukul S. Anand. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sridevi ,Nagarjuna, Shilpa Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, Kiran Kumar in pivotal roles. The music was composed by Laxmikant–Pyarelal. The film marked Sridevi and Bachchan's third collaboration after Inquilaab (1984) and Aakhree Raasta (1986). In the film, Badshah Khan travels from Afghanistan to India to find the killer of Benazir's father so that he can impress her. He succeeds but soon finds himself framed for a murder and trapped in an Indian prison. Made on a budget of 57 million, it was one of the most expensive films of its time, just below Ajooba (1991) which also starred Bachchan.

The film is produced by Universal Entertainment, Red Chillies Entertainment and Azure Entertainment and is a remake of the 2016 Spanish film The Invisible Guest. The story follows an interview between a lawyer and a businesswoman, in which the latter insists that she is being wrongfully framed for the murder of her lover.
