Shivraj Singh Lodhi

Shivraj Singh Lodhi (8 October 1943 - 18 May 2021) was an Indian politician, belonging to the Bhartiya Janata Party.

He served as a member of the Lok Sabha for the Damoh constituency of Madhya Pradesh from 2009 to 2014. [1]

He previously served as a member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly for from 1974 to 1980 and from 1984 till 1989.

He was married to Smt Ahilya Bai, with whom he had four sons and three daughters. [2]

Lodhi died from COVID-19 on 18 May 2021 aged 78. [3] [4]

He was the author of a number of books which included Nehru Vani, Janata ke Jawahar, Shantidoot Shastriji, Shreemati Indira Gandhi, Panchayaten Aur Humara Dayitwa and Pagdandiyon ki Awaz. The Government of India awarded him Padma Bhushan, the third highest Indian civilian award, in 1971.

In March 2020, a political crisis took place in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India, due to the resignation of 22 sitting MLAs of the Indian National Congress party from the state's Legislative Assembly. It eventually led to the fall of the Kamal Nath government and the subsequent formation of the fourth Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh.
