Singing City is a volunteer-based non-profit choral organization founded by Dr. Elaine Brown, Temple University in 1948. The Philadelphia-based organization was born from the Fellowship House movement, based on the idea that cultural differences could be bridged through shared activities. Its stated mission is "to be an artistic, social and spiritual force, bringing people together through choral music." [1] In addition to a 100-person volunteer adult choir, the organization also works to offer music instruction to under-funded elementary schools in Philadelphia. [2]

The choir was also involved in the civil rights movement, traveling through the southern states during the 1950s and the 1960s, in addition to performances in Philadelphia, the inspiration for the choirs 2013 commission and performance of "The Children's March." [3] [4] The group has also traveled throughout the world, performing with the Israel Philharmonic in the 1970s, and was the first western choir to perform with the Leningrad Philharmonic in 1990. [5]

Since June 1999, Jeffrey Brillhart has served as the Artistic and Musical Director. [6] As of 2023, the chorus has 80 members. [7]

SFGC's Chorus School has been described as "a model in the country for training girls' voices" by the California Arts Council.

Donald M. Kendrick is the Calgary, Alberta-born director of choral activities at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) and the director of music at Sacred Heart Church where he conducts Schola Cantorum and Vox Nova, and the founder and artistic director of the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra. He is also the founder and past artistic director of the Sacramento Children's Chorus.

Angel City Chorale (ACC) is a Los Angeles choir conducted by founder and artistic director Sue Fink.

Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC) is a children's choral youth organisation based in Los Angeles. The Saint Louis Chamber Chorus is a large chamber choir, numbering 45 – 50 mixed voices, that presents seasons of six programs performed in St. Louis, Missouri, in venues of historic and/or architectural note. Each season includes 50 complete works or more, and generally in the original language. Andrew Keith Wailes is an Australian conductor and music director. Winner of the Australasian International Choral Conducting Competition in Brisbane in 1999, he is the current artistic director and Chief Conductor of the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the Melbourne University Choral Society, and music director and Conductor of the Box Hill Chorale. In 1983, Marguerite McCormick founded the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio to develop the artistic and personal potential of young people across the city. Today, more than 450 young musicians ages 5–18 gather every week to learn choral music and singing in a healthy, diverse, and inclusive environment. The organization runs eight core ensembles, one of which is in special collaboration with the Boys and Girls Clubs, as well as an extensive early-childhood music and movement program for babies and toddlers called Music Together. Through their specially crafted programming, CCSA continues to cultivate the arts and culture in San Antonio, while transforming the lives of young people through the power of music and friendship.

Boston Children's Chorus (BCC) is composed of over 500 singers from 13 choirs in over five locations around Boston. Its mission is to address the social problems of Boston's children and communities. Founded in 2003, BCC has performed all over the world in countries such as Japan, Mexico, Australia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Jordan, the Czech Republic, Germany and the United Kingdom. In addition, BCC has received critical acclaim for its music and hosts Boston's Martin Luther King Jr. annual celebration at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. This concert has featured guests such as Lou Gossett Jr, Patti Austin, Melinda Doolittle, Cindy Blackman Santana, Leslie Odom Jr., Dom Flemons and Roomful of Teeth and has been televised nationally. BCC's believes in the transformative power of music as a tool for social bridging. Its program focuses on providing children with a comprehensive music education and strong diverse youth leadership.

Washington, D.C. and its environs are home to an unusually large and vibrant choral music scene, including choirs and choruses of many sizes and types.
