Spiridon Vangheli (born 14 June 1932) [1] is a Moldovan children's writer, poet and translator.
Vangheli graduated Ion Creangă State Pedagogical University in 1955 and after various jobs in schools, including as math professor, he joined Moldovan Writers' Union and became consulting editor.
His first publishing debut was in 1962, a book for children "In the land of butterflies".
His books were translated in 40 languages [2]
His most characteristic work are the series of children books about the adventures of Guguţă [3] - a little boy who received from his father a big traditional lamb skin hat, that became his inseparable attribute. [4] The story goes that Guguţă invites his classmates and the entire village to snuggle under the hat, protecting everyone from the winter cold. As more people join, the hat grows bigger, a metaphor of growing generosity. The books about Guguţă became widely popular and the personage became a national symbol.

Air Moldova was a Moldovian airline headquartered in Chișinău. It mainly operated scheduled and charter services to destinations within Europe from its base at Chișinău International Airport. Air Moldova suspended all operations on 3 May 2023.

The unification of Moldova and Romania is a popular concept in the two countries that began during the Revolutions of 1989. The Romanian Revolution in 1989 and the independence of Moldova in 1991 further contributed to the development of a movement for the unification of the two Romanian-speaking countries. Mihai Cimpoi is a Moldovan politician, a distinguished cultural scientist, Romanian academician, critic and literary historian, eminescologist, literary editor and Bessarabian essayist. "Emeritus of the Republic of Moldova", two decades elected president of the Union of Writers of Moldova, deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova between 1999 and 2001, Mihai Cimpoi is the author of some fundamental works such as: "An Open History of the Romanian literature in Bessarabia" and "Mihai Eminescu. Mihai Cimpoi is the author and developer of the long-term project "The World Congress of Eminescologists", launched in 2012 and became a tradition.

Anatol Stati is a businessman from Chişinău. In 2010, he was widely considered to be Moldova’s richest man. Stati is the founder of Ascom Group, President and chief executive officer and has served in this capacity since the founding in 1994. Between 1989 and 1994, Stati served as a Director at Decebal, a local Moldovan consumer goods trading company.

Alexandru Spiridon is a former professional footballer and current football manager from Moldova. Spiridon played as a midfielder during his football career, winning the Moldovan Footballer of the Year award in 1992. He made 16 appearances for the national team, scoring one goal. He worked as the assistant manager at Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg, joining the club in 2016 with manager Mircea Lucescu.
