Stephanie Louise Waring (born 19 February 1978) is an English actress, known for portraying the role of Cindy Cunningham in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks . In addition to her work on Hollyoaks, she has also had roles on Coronation Street , Doctors , Holby City , Crash Palace and Merseybeat , as well as competing in the tenth series of Dancing on Ice .

Personal life

Waring was born in Urmston, Greater Manchester on 19 February 1978 and attended Flixton Girls' High School. [1] Waring has two daughters, Mia, [2] born 2005, and Lexi Grace, born 2010. [3] Waring was in a relationship with Dan Hooper who is Lexi's father. [4] Waring suffered with post-natal depression after having daughter Lexi. [5] After dating Tom Brookes for one year, the couple became engaged on 19 December 2021. [6]

Career

Waring has appeared in various British television series since 1999, including Nice Guy Eddie , Merseybeat and Holby City . She has also acted overseas, playing the lead in the Australian television drama series, Crash Palace in 2001. Waring auditioned for the characters of Tracy Barlow and Claire Peacock, both of Coronation Street , but lost out to Kate Ford and Julia Haworth respectively. Waring appeared in Coronation Street as Emma, a character who had given birth to Jason Grimshaw's child after a one-night stand, initially on Christmas Day in 2006 and then the following Easter when the character discovered the child's father was actually the late Charlie Stubbs. [7]

Waring is known for portraying Cindy Cunningham in Hollyoaks , taking over the role from Laura Crossley in 1996. She initially played the role until 2000 and returned briefly in both 2002 and 2004. [8] In May 2008 it was announced Waring would return to the serial on a regular basis after executive producer Bryan Kirkwood felt the serial needed to bring back some established characters. [9] Cindy's return aired on 9 June 2008. [10] Waring appeared as her character in the second series of Hollyoaks Later . [11] In March 2010 it was announced Waring would leave the role temporarily for maternity leave, [2] her exit aired on 24 September 2010 [12] and she returned to the serial 9 March 2011. [13] On 8 April 2024, Waring announced that she had been axed from the soap as part of the show's cast reduction. Her final scenes are set to air in mid 2024. [14] In 2018, she was a contestant on series 10 of Dancing on Ice and was second to be eliminated. [15]

Ste Hay is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Kieron Richardson. He debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 10 February 2006. Ste was created by David Hanson and was originally intended to be a short-term character for seven episodes. The following series producer Bryan Kirkwood decided to bring the character back on a permanent basis. As of 2010, Richardson has revealed that he is committed to staying in the serial. In April 2017, Richardson began taking hiatus from the show due to paternity leave, and made a full-time return on 18 December 2017. In October 2019, it was confirmed that Richardson will take a hiatus from the show departing on 20 November 2019. He returned on 3 November 2020.

Cooper has stated that whilst Lucy Allan produced the serial she was not used and that Jacqui had "lost her identity". In 2010 when Paul Marquess took over the role, he recognised she was an under used character and split her apart from the McQueen family, subsequently increasing her role within the show. Jacqui has been portrayed as a "tough ex-con" and is extremely feisty, she often takes on the matriarch role within the McQueens.

Liberty Savage is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, played by actress and singer-songwriter Abi Phillips from 2010 to 2013, and Jessamy Stoddart from 2018. She made her first on-screen appearance on 10 December 2010. Phillips was approached by Hollyoaks producers after she submitted one of her songs to be played on the show. Following a strong response to the song, producers invited her to audition for the role of Liberty, in which she was successful. Liberty was introduced to Hollyoaks along with her fiancé, Ethan Scott. After an absence of four months during 2013, it was announced that Liberty would be written out of the serial, and she departed on 24 July 2013. On 22 May 2018, it was announced that Liberty would return, but this time with Stoddart in the role, and she returned on 5 June 2018. Stoddart went on maternity leave in December 2022, with the character of Liberty set to return in 2024.

Paula Lane is an English actress. She is best known for portraying the roles of Kylie Platt in ITV soap opera Coronation Street (2010–2016), and Ella Forster in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale (2024–present).

Ciaran McCarthy is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera Coronation Street, portrayed by Keith Duffy. He made his first on-screen appearance on 7 August 2002, before departing in 2005. He returned in 2010 until Duffy temporary departed in January 2011 to go on Boyzone Tour, and returned on 3 November 2011. Duffy departed the role again on 25 November 2011 due to family commitments although he stated his intention to eventually return as Ciaran. Mark "Dodger" Savage is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 serial drama, Hollyoaks, played by Danny Mac. He made his first on-screen appearance on 7 April 2011 and was introduced as part of the Savage family by creator Paul Marquess. Dodger is played as being a bit "cocky" and as thinking he has "got it all". For his portrayal, Mac has won and been nominated for various awards. In November 2014, Mac opted to leave the role and Dodger made his last appearance on 20 January 2015. Dodger is the biological son of Patrick Blake and Anna Blake, the twin brother of Sienna Blake, the adoptive son of Anna's husband Dirk Savage, the half-brother of Will Savage, Liberty Savage and Minnie Minniver and the father of Nico Blake and Myra-Pocahontas Savage-McQueen.

Alexander Anthony Keith Bain is an English actor. He plays Simon Barlow in Coronation Street, a role he has portrayed since 2008.
