Steve Russ (born September 16, 1972) [1] is an American football coach and former professional linebacker. He played college football as a linebacker for the Air Force Falcons before being drafted by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 1995 NFL Draft. [2] He also played for the Los Angeles Xtreme in the original XFL and has been a coach since 2001.
In January 2018, Russ was hired by the Carolina Panthers as their linebackers coach under head coach Ron Rivera. [3] Following the hiring of new head coach Matt Rhule in January 2020, Russ was not retained by the Panthers.
In January 2020, Russ was hired again by Rivera to be the linebackers coach for the Washington Football Team, then known as the Washington Redskins. [4] He held the role for four seasons, but was fired upon the hiring of new head coach Dan Quinn.

Jack Louis Del Rio Jr. is an American football coach and a former professional linebacker. He played college football as a linebacker at the University of Southern California before being drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 1985 NFL Draft. He also played for four other NFL teams before retiring in 1996.
Ronald Eugene Rivera is an American former football linebacker and coach who is currently is a football analyst with ESPN. He attended the University of California, Berkeley in the early 1980s, where he was recognized as an All-American linebacker for the Golden Bears. Following graduation, Rivera was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 1984 NFL Draft and played nine seasons with them, including as a member of the 1985 team that won Super Bowl XX.
Thomas Antonio Davis Sr. is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker for 16 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Georgia in the early 2000s, where he was recognized as a consensus All-American.
Chase Wyatt Blackburn is a former American football linebacker who is the special teams coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He won two Super Bowl titles with the Giants, both against the New England Patriots. He played college football at Akron.
Chris Harris is an American football coach and former safety who is the passing game coordinator and cornerbacks coach for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). Russell Scott Grimm is an American former professional football player who was a guard for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL).
