TAKE ONE is a British online film magazine published in Cambridge. It was founded in 2011 as the official magazine of Cambridge Film Festival, [1] covering general release of independent and arthouse cinema [2] and films from various film festivals, [3] [4] [5] publishing reviews and interviews [6] [7] with directors and other people associated with those films. [8] At festivals, hard copies of the magazine are also often printed and circulated. [9] It additionally offers "full, comprehensive coverage" of Cambridge Film Festival. [10]

Since 2017, TAKE ONE has sent students of Anglia Ruskin University to Cannes Film Festival to complete coverage of the festival as part of their coursework, with this scheme expanding to Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2019. [11] [12] Since 2018, TAKE ONE have been official media partners of the Edinburgh Short Film Festival. [13]

Wekande Walauwa is a 2002 award-winning Sinhalese language drama film directed by Lester James Peries and co-produced by Asoka Perera and Chandran Rutnam. It stars Malini Fonseka, Vasanthi Chathurani and Sanath Gunathilake in lead roles along with Paboda Sandeepani and Ravindra Randeniya. Music composed by Pradeep Ratnayake. Mania Akbari Iranian actress and film director

Mania Akbari is an Iranian filmmaker, artist, writer and actress whose works explore women's rights, marriage, sexual identity, disease and body image. Her style, in contrast to the long tradition of melodrama in Iranian cinema, is rooted in the visual arts and autobiography. Because of the taboo themes frankly discussed in her films and her opposition to censorship, she is considered one of the most controversial filmmakers in Iran. As an actress, she is probably best known for playing the lead role in Abbas Kiarostami's Ten (2002).

Keith Shiri, the founder/director of Africa at the Pictures is the Artistic Director of the festival.

Alexander Tuschinski German film producer, writer and director

Alexander Tuschinski is a German film director, film producer, writer, actor and musician. Internationally, he is best known for his feature films which have won awards at various film festivals, as well as his academic writing on the early works of Tinto Brass. Notably, his research into, and interest in, Brass's work on Caligula was examined in his feature documentary Mission: Caligula. At the documentary's premiere, Penthouse announced plans to work with Tuschinski on a new cut of Caligula that aims to restore and finish Brass's original version of the film. Though 85 minutes of his original workprint will be used, it remains unclear if Brass himself will be involved in finishing the film's edit.

<i>Through the Dark</i> (2016 film)

Through the Dark is a 4​12 minute 3D-animated interactive film, which is viewed in a web browser and rendered in real-time. The film is a collaboration between Google Play Music and Australian hip hop group Hilltop Hoods, featuring the band's song of the same title. The song was written by band member MC Pressure after his son was diagnosed with leukemia at eight-years-old. Based on this experience, which is told through the song's lyrics, the film tells an emotional story of a boy and his father. Through the Dark has been awarded over 50 accolades at international award shows.

Whitney is a 2018 documentary film about the American singer and actress Whitney Houston. The film was directed by Kevin Macdonald and produced by Simon Chinn, Jonathan Chinn and Lisa Erspamer. Whitney was screened out of competition at the world premiere as part of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival on 16 May 2018 with a cinema release on 6 July 2018. The film was also released on home media where it debuted at number one on the UK Official Music Video Chart. In December 2018, Whitney was nominated at the 61st Grammy Awards for Best Music Film.

<i>The Whistlers</i> (film) 2019 film

The Whistlers is a 2019 Romanian crime thriller film directed by Corneliu Porumboiu and starring Vlad Ivanov. It premiered in competition at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. It was selected as the Romanian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
