Alexandru Ioan Cuza was the first domnitor (Ruler) of the Romanian Principalities through his double election as prince of Moldavia on 5 January 1859 and prince of Wallachia on 24 January 1859,which resulted in the unification of the two states. He was a prominent figure of the Revolution of 1848 in Moldavia. Following his double election,he initiated a series of reforms that contributed to the modernization of Romanian society and of state structures.

Mihai Răzvan Ungureanu is a Romanian historian,politician who served as Prime Minister of Romania in 2012. He was the foreign minister of Romania from 28 December 2004 to 12 March 2007,and he was appointed as Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service later in 2007. Following the resignation of the Emil Boc government he was appointed Prime Minister serving through April 2012 when his cabinet was dismissed following a parliamentary vote of no-confidence. He was confirmed by the Parliament for a second term as Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service,after President Klaus Iohannis nominated him in June 2015 but he resigned in September 2016,citing health issues.

Elena Cuza,also known under her semi-official title Elena Doamna,was a Moldavian,later Romanian noblewoman and philanthropist. She was princess consort of the United Principalities and the wife of Alexandru Ioan Cuza,the first Romanian prince.

The United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia,commonly called United Principalities or as Wallachia and Moldavia,was the personal union of the Principality of Moldavia and the Principality of Wallachia. The union was formed 5 February [O.S. 24 January] 1859 when Alexandru Ioan Cuza was elected as the Domnitor of both principalities. Their separate autonomous vassalage in the Ottoman Empire continued with the unification of both principalities. On 3 February [O.S. 22 January] 1862,Moldavia and Wallachia formally united to create the Romanian United Principalities,the core of the Romanian nation state.

Public opinion and historians generally agree that both Cuza brothers were Cuza's natural sons from his mistress Maria Catargi-Obrenović,though another hypothesis has them as born to Maria from her liaison with Cezar Librecht,the Postmaster General and spy chief. His biological and his adoptive mother both belonged to the boyar aristocracy of Moldavia. Through Catargi,Alexandru and Dimitrie were half-brothers of Milan I Obrenović,the King of Serbia,and of General Radu Catargi. During his brief political activity,Alexandru was repeatedly described as a Russophile or more specifically an agent of the Russian Empire,resembling in this Maria and her father,Costin Catargi.

Paul Bujor was a Romanian zoologist,physiologist and marine biologist,also noted as a socialist writer and politician. Hailing from rural Covurlui County,he studied biology in France and Switzerland,where he was attracted by left-wing ideas;his evolutionary biology,informed by the work of Carl Vogt,veered into Marxism and irreligion. Returning to the Kingdom of Romania,he was a junior member of the Romanian Social Democratic Workers' Party,active on its moderate wing. He earned the critics' attention in the 1890s as a short story writer with a socialist and pacifist message,but only returned to fiction writing briefly,in the 1930s. An award-winning ichthyologist,Bujor was hired by the University of Iași,where he taught for 41 years,and throughout the period worked on documenting the Black Sea fauna,and made discoveries concerning the environment of Techirghiol Lake. He inaugurated the Romanian study of animal morphology,while also contributing to histology,embryology,and parasitology,and gave popular lectures on evolution and physical culture.

Ogerta Manastirliu is an Albanian Socialist Party politician.She is the Minister of Education,Sport and Youth of Albania since 12 September 2023 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tirana. On 13 March 2017,she was appointed as Minister of Health. She held the office until 21 May 2017,due to the general election.

Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property,toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities." Accompanying the working definition,but of disputed status,are 11 illustrative examples whose purpose is described as guiding the IHRA in its work,seven of which relate to criticism of the Israeli government. As such,pro-Israeli organizations have been advocates for the worldwide legal adoption of the definition.
The 2018–2019 student protests in Albania were a series of street protests,demonstrations and online activism events held by the students of the public universities from December 2018 until February 2019,to oppose the high tuition fees. Students across Albania rallied against the moves that were made by the Albanian government to increase the cost of university education,by introducing new fees for exams. The fee comes on top of the dramatically risen university fees,which have failed to lead to any improvement in public education.
Anton Carpinschi is a Romanian political philosopher,professor emeritus at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iași,and first head of the chair of politology of this university after the Romanian Revolution of 1989. He is an expert in political ideologies and international organizations,and the author of many publications in these fields. In December 2014 Carpinschi was awarded the 2012 Mircea Florian prize of the Romanian Academy for his book on recognition culture and human security,and its contribution to the development of Romanian culture and science in the fields of philosophy,theology,psychology and pedagogy.
