Television in Hungary was introduced in 1957. Transmission in colour was introduced to Hungarian television for the first time in 1971. Hungary had only one television channel until 1973. It was only in the mid 1990s when private and commercial broadcasting was introduced to Hungary.
Analogue broadcasting in Hungary was phased out in two phases that were completed on July 31 and October 31, 2013, respectively. [1] However, analogue broadcasting is still active as of August 2021 in the Balaton area, at least.

Viasat was a satellite and pay television brand, co-owned by the Swedish media group Viaplay Group in the Nordic countries, Antenna Group in Hungary, and by Viasat World internationally. Founded in Sweden in 1991, Viasat has previously been owned by Modern Times Group. The channels of both companies were broadcast from London.
Magyar Televízió or MTV is a nationwide public television broadcasting organization in Hungary. Headquartered in Budapest, it is the oldest television broadcaster in Hungary and today airs five channels: M1 HD, M2 HD, M3, M4 Sport and M5.

AKTA TV was a Romanian DTH platform. It belonged to Digital Cable Systems, a telecommunication operator which offered satellite, cable television, internet and telephony in over 2,500 locations in Romania.
Television in Romania started in August 1955. State television started to broadcast on 31 December 1956. The second television channel followed in 1968, but between 1985 and 1990, there was only one Romanian channel before the return of the second channel. Private broadcasters arrived in December 1991, with SOTI which was the first private nationwide television station in Central and Eastern Europe. M1 is a Hungarian television channel owned and operated by Duna Média. It is also transmitted in high definition. The channel originally launched on 1 May 1957, as a generalist channel, and was the flagship channel of Magyar Televízió.

Médiaszolgáltatás-támogató és Vagyonkezelő Alap (MTVA) is a Hungarian fund company owned and financed by the Hungarian state, through the National Media and Infocommunications Authority. MTVA was established on 1 January 2011, and from July 2015 the company's main task has been to finance and operate Duna Média, Hungary's state public company. It is an active member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
EVOtv is a Croatian Pay TV provider founded and previously owned by Croatian Post, in 2018 purchased by T-HT. EVOtv offers Pay TV Digital Terrestrial Television based on DVB-T2 Technology. The service was introduced in December 2012 and currently carries 56 TV channels.

Duna Media Service Provider, also known as simply Duna Média, is Hungary's public service broadcaster for radio, television and new media. The company was established in July 2015 and operates six TV channels, seven radio stations, a news agency and online services.
M4 Sport is a Hungarian terrestrial television channel owned and operated by Duna Média since 2015. On this channel, events of the 16 prominent Hungarian sports are carried, as well as international sports events, events featuring outstanding Hungarian athletes, and the broadcast of their competitions and championships. All of this includes self-produced shows. M4 Sport provides approximately 10 hours of "live" sports broadcasting per day.
