Four college freshmen and best friends find that it may take more than a shared pair of jeans to help them stay in touch as their lives go in different directions.

Future

A third film was announced to be in the works in 2014. It would be based on the book Sisterhood Everlasting , and produced by Alloy Entertainment. [1] Liz W. Garcia was tapped to write a screenplay and Ken Kwapis, director of the first film, would be directing this installment. [2] In April 2018, Bledel had revealed that the film had recently been pitched. [3] In October 2022, Tamblyn stated that family life was one of the roadblocks to the film getting made. [4] Chase expressed in a 2024 interview that she "would love" to make another sequel with Ferrera, Lively, Tamblyn, and Bledel, "I'm doing sequels to some of my other classic movies right now. I think, you know, time has gone by and the audiences still very much want it. So maybe." [5]

Musical

A musical adaptation based on the 2005 film is in development. [6]

It was directed by Sanaa Hamri and written by Elizabeth Chandler, who wrote the previous film. The film is based upon the fourth novel in the book series: Forever in Blue (2007), but incorporates scenes and storylines from The Second Summer of the Sisterhood (2003) and Girls in Pants (2004).
