The Arena Football League (AFL) can refer to one of three successive professional indoor American football leagues in the United States. The first of these was founded in 1986, and played its first official games in the 1987 season, running for 22 consecutive seasons until going bankrupt following the 2008 season. The second league, consisting largely of teams from the first AFL and arenafootball2, purchased the first league's assets out of bankruptcy and resumed play in 2010 as a continuation of the first AFL; this second AFL ran for ten further seasons, before again going bankrupt following the 2019 season. A third AFL, which is not directly connected to the previous two iterations of the league but claiming their histories and trademarks, intends to launch in 2024.
The Tampa Bay Storm were a professional arena football team based in Tampa, Florida, US. It played in the Arena Football League (AFL). Originally the team was located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and operated as the Pittsburgh Gladiators. The franchise was one of the original four that launched the Arena Football League for its inaugural season in 1987. The club was relocated to Tampa Bay area for the 1991 season, being the last of the original teams to either fold or leave its market. After 26 years in the Tampa market, the team ceased operations in December, 2017.

Raymond 'Ray' Philyaw is a former arena football quarterback who was most recently the offensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League (AFL). He also played for the Cleveland Gladiators, Chicago Rush, Kansas City Brigade, Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings and the Albany/Indiana Firebirds, leading the former to the American Conference championship game in 2004 and 2005. Prior to his Arena Football career, he played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Madison Mad Dogs of the Indoor Football League (IFL). After leaving to coach with the New Orleans VooDoo in 2011, he attempted a return as a player in 2012 with the San Jose SaberCats, but later became OC for the San Antonio Talons. He holds the record for the highest career TD-to-INT ratio in AFL history and threw a school record 52 TDs while attending Northeast Louisiana.
Browning Nagle is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, and Atlanta Falcons. He played college football for the Louisville Cardinals and was selected by the Jets in the second round of the 1991 NFL Draft. He also played professionally in the Arena Football League (AFL) for the Orlando Predators and Buffalo Destroyers.
Corey Mayfield is a former American football offensive lineman/defensive lineman and coach of the Arena Football League (AFL). Mayfield is currently the defensive coordinator of the Texas Revolution of Champions Indoor Football (CIF). Mayfield played in the National Football League (NFL) and the Arena Football League.

Les Moss is an American football coach and current head coach of the Northern Arizona Wranglers in the Indoor Football League (IFL). He was the head coach of the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League (AFL) from 2010 to 2016 and the assistant head coach of the Albany Empire of the AFL from 2018 to 2019. He was the head coach of the IFL's Iowa Barnstormers for the 2021 season. He is the son of former NFL, AFL, CFL and NCAA head football coach Perry Moss, who is enshrined in the AFL Hall of Fame.

Stevie Thomas is a former Arena football wide receiver/linebacker in the Arena Football League (AFL). He played college football at Bethune-Cookman University. He was an undrafted free agent of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and earned NFL contract for the 1990 season. In 1991, he was 3rd round draft pick of the inaugural season of the World League of American Football (WLAF). Upon returning from the WLAF, he joined the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League.
David McLeod is a former American football player who played seven seasons in the Arena Football League (AFL) with the Albany Firebirds, Grand Rapids Rampage, Carolina Cobras and Tampa Bay Storm. McLeod played college football at James Madison University. In 1996, he was the first recipient of the AFL Defensive Player of the Year Award and was named Second Team All-Arena.

Edward Jennings, known as Ted or Teddy Jennings, is a former American football defensive end who played for four seasons for the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League (AFL). He was signed by the Soul as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He played college football at Connecticut. Jennings was selected by the Beijing Lions of the China Arena Football League (CAFL) in the fourth round of the 2016 CAFL Draft.
Cedric Walker is a former American football defensive back and coach who is currently the head coach and defensive coordinator of the Billings Outlaws of the Arena Football League (AFL). Walker played football at Stephen F. Austin University; once his stint there concluded, he signed with the AFL's Charlotte Rage. Walker played for a succession of AFL teams over his ten-season career; these included the Orlando Predators, Arizona Rattlers, Indiana Firebirds, Chicago Rush, Austin Wranglers, and Las Vegas Gladiators. At the end of his AFL Career, Walker had amassed some 522 solo tackles ; this was the league's seventh-highest total. Walker also won one ArenaBowl as a player; this came with the Arizona Rattlers in 1997.
Peter Alan Thomas is a quarterbacks coach at Cincinnati and former Arena Football League (AFL) quarterback. He has previously coached at Louisville and Appalachian State.
