Toto Coelo (renamed Total Coelo in the US) was a 1980s British new wave group, founded by producer Barry Blue. The original members were singers Anita Mahadevan, Lacey Bond, Lindsey Danvers, Ros Holness (daughter of television presenter Bob Holness) and Sheen Doran.
Originally formed in 1981, one of the groups’ first recordings was "Videotheque", a Buggles number written and produced by Trevor Horn. The track became a hit for Dollar in 1982, while the Toto Coelo version remains unreleased. Another early track, "World of Automation", is also unreleased.
The group is most known for the 1982 hit single, "I Eat Cannibals", which reached No. 8 in the UK Singles Chart [1] and was a top 5 hit in Australia, [2] South Africa, [3] and Sweden. [4] "I Eat Cannibals" also charted in the US, where it peaked at No. 66 in April 1983. [5] The follow-up single, "Dracula's Tango (Sucker For Your Love)", reached the top 20 in Australia and top 10 in Sweden. [2] [4] The group's only studio album, 1983's Man o' War, was not a commercial success, charting highest in Sweden at No. 46. [4] A third single, "Milk from the Coconut", was released from the album and peaked at No. 4 in South Africa. [3] Following the album, Anita Mahadevan and Sheen Doran left the group.[ citation needed ]
The band was briefly featured in the unreleased horror film Grizzly II: The Predator , performing "Milk from the Coconut" in a few scenes of the rock concert.[ citation needed ] In 2020, the film was completed and released under the title Grizzly II: Revenge, with scenes featuring the band performing "Milk from the Coconut", "Man of War", "Automation" and "Calories".
In 1985, the remaining three members released two further singles, "Girls Night Out" and "Gimme Some Lovin'", neither of which charted. [1]
Lacey, Lindsey and Ros performed as the backing singers for the Bruce Foxton Band in 1985. They feature prominently on the 'Live in London' performance filmed at the Camden Palace, which has been released on video (Dubious, 1986) and DVD (SFM, 2012).[ citation needed ]
The group's name is Latin and means "by the whole extent of the heavens" or "heaven-wide", but is commonly translated as "completely", "entirely" or "utterly". [6] Of the name, Sheen Doran said, "It has a number of meanings, such as 'heart and soul', 'root and branch' and 'totally different'. It seemed to describe what we were. Plus, it's strange-sounding and hard to pronounce, so it sticks in your mind". The group was renamed Total Coelo in the United States to avoid confusion with the American rock group Toto. [6]
Mahadevan later changed her name to Anita Chellamah, and formed Cherry Bombz with several former members of Hanoi Rocks, including Andy McCoy. [6] She is now known as Anita Chellamah-Nurse and works as a television actress and presenter.[ citation needed ] She appeared as Tania in the 1995 episode of One Foot in the Grave entitled "The Exterminating Angel".[ citation needed ]

Antti Hulkko, better known as Andy McCoy, is a Finnish musician. He is best known for his role as the lead guitarist and main songwriter of the rock band Hanoi Rocks, but has also played with Iggy Pop and a variety of other groups. McCoy's works cover a wide range of music genres, including rock 'n' roll, punk rock, flamenco, glam punk, glam rock, blues rock and hard rock. He is also an avid painter.
Salvatore "Toto" Cutugno is an Italian pop singer-songwriter and musician. He is best known for his worldwide hit song, "L'Italiano", released on his 1983 album of the same title. Cutugno also won the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 held in Zagreb, Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia with the song "Insieme: 1992", for which he wrote both lyrics and music.

Grizzly is a 1976 American horror thriller film directed by William Girdler, about a park ranger's attempts to halt the wild rampage of an 18 ft (5.5 m) tall, 2,000 lb (910 kg) Man-eating grizzly bear that terrorizes a National Forest, having developed a taste for human flesh. However, a drunken hunting party complicates matters. It stars Christopher George, Andrew Prine and Richard Jaeckel. Widely considered a Jaws rip-off, Grizzly used many of the same plot devices as its shark predecessor, which had been a huge box office success during the previous year. The giant grizzly bear in the film was portrayed by a Kodiak bear named Teddy, who was 11 ft (3.4 m) tall.
TraxX, was a South Korean EDM trio that consisted of Jay, Jungmo and Ginjo. Originally a four-member rock band formed by SM Entertainment and X Japan's co-founder Yoshiki in 2004, it consisted of Typhoon Jay (vocals), Rose Minwoo, Attack Jungwoo, and Xmas Jungmo. Their name is an acronym of "Typhoon Rose Attack Xmas", the members' nicknames.
"Southern Cross" is a song written by Stephen Stills, Rick Curtis, and Michael Curtis and performed by the rock band Crosby, Stills & Nash. It was featured on the band's Daylight Again album and was released as a single in September 1982. Stephen Stills sings lead throughout, with Graham Nash joining on the second verse. Because David Crosby did not reunite with Stills and Nash until the album was well underway, his vocals are not featured on the album version, although he did appear in the video and subsequently sang the song with the group in live performances. The single was a success on the charts, reaching No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in late November and early December 1982. As of 2022, it was the group's final hit in the Billboard Top 40.

Legs & Co. were a dance troupe created in 1976 for the BBC's weekly Top of the Pops programme. They had made over three hundred appearances on this show by the time of their last performance in 1981. The group then continued for four further years on tour. The six-girl dance troupe replaced Ruby Flipper on Top of the Pops, representing a reversion to the earlier all-female format for troupes on this show, and covering the time period when the disco, punk and new wave music fashions were at their chart peak.
"Rosanna" is a song written by David Paich and performed by the American rock band Toto, the opening track and the first single from their 1982 album Toto IV. This song won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year at the 1983 ceremony. "Rosanna" was also nominated for the Song of the Year award. He launched AC/DC at Chequers nightclub on New Year's Eve 1974 and later became a publisher and music producer in Australia.
Raiders of the Pop Charts is a compilation album released by Ronco in late 1982. It spent two weeks at number one in the UK Albums chart in January 1983.
