Yamam, also known as National Counter-Terrorism Unit, is Israel's national counter-terrorism unit, one of four special units of the Israel Border Police. The Yamam is capable of both hostage-rescue operations and offensive take-over raids against terrorist targets in civilian areas. Besides military and counter-terrorism duties, it also performs tactical unit duties and undercover police work.

Ibrahim Hamed is a Hamas military commander in the West Bank who ordered suicide bombing attacks during the Second Intifadawhich he claimed is due to Israeli attacks on Palestinians until he was apprehended by Israeli YAMAM unit on 23 May 2006. Israeli authorities accused him of being responsible for 96 civilian deaths.
The Café Moment bombing was a Palestinian suicide bombing of a coffee shop in downtown Jerusalem, that killed 11 Israeli civilians and left 65 others wounded. It was carried out on March 9, 2002, during the Second Intifada.

The memorial roll, in addition to IDF members deceased, also include fallen members of the Shin Bet security service, the Mossad intelligence service, the Israel Police, the Border Police, the Israel Prisons Service, other Israeli security forces, the pre-state Jewish underground, and the Jewish Brigade and the Jewish Legion.
Café Hillel is an Israeli chain of coffehouses and restaurants. Established in 1998 by Koby and Yossi Sherf, the chain has 25 locations across Israel. The German Colony location of the chain was the site of the 2003 Café Hillel bombing.

The Café Hillel bombing occurred on 9 September 2003, when a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself in Café Hillel in German Colony, Jerusalem. Seven people were killed in the attack and over 50 were injured.

On 25 January 2002, a Palestinian suicide bomber injured at least 24 civilians in Tel Aviv, Israel. Afterwards, the Islamist Palestinian militant organization Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.
The Netanya Market bombing was a suicide bombing which occurred on 19 May 2002 at the entrance to the main fruit and vegetable open-air market in Netanya, Israel. The site of the attack was chosen in order to cause maximum number of casualties. Three people were killed in the attack, and 56–59 were injured.
Abdullah Ghaleb Barghouti is a Palestinian leading commander in Hamas' armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, in the West Bank. He was also one of the organization's chief bomb makers. Barghouti is currently serving 67 life-term sentences in Israeli prison.
The 2012 Tel Aviv bus bombing was a mass-injury terror attack carried out on November 21, 2012, on a crowded passenger bus driving in the center of Tel Aviv's business district. The attack was carried out by an Israeli citizen of Arab descent, who remotely detonated an explosive device, which he had hid on the bus in advance. Twenty-eight civilians were injured in the attack, among them three who were injured seriously. The attack was carried out on the 8th and last day of Operation Pillar of Defense, only a few hours before the ceasefire was reached.
The 2005 Gush Etzion Junction shooting was a drive-by shooting attack on October 16, 2005, at the Gush Etzion Junction in Gush Etzion, in which three Israelis were killed and three others were injured.
