UCT Radio is a campus radio station operated by students of the University of Cape Town (UCT) in Cape Town, South Africa. UCT Radio broadcasts on the online at radio.uct.ac.za. The station broadcasts from the main Upper Campus in the Southern Suburbs.
As a student-run, campus-community station, our programming reflects the culture, ethos and diversity of campus life, following a cross-genre approach to music and playing 60% of South African music. [1]
Dan Corder (5FM Presenter) Mark Gillman (Fromer 5FM presenter), Randall Abrahams (Former Idols SA judge), Russell Warner (transformed the station into a viable community broadcaster and consequently .obtained the first legal and current licence), Suga (Good Hope FM/MC at 46664 events), Bongani Njoli (e.tv) and Natalie Bekker (P4/Free Spirit/Top Billing presenter). DemonFM is a student radio station based at De Montfort University in Leicester, England. The station broadcasts online during term time. It was established in 1995 by the Communications Officer of the time, Rob Martin. The first licensed broadcast was on 106.4 FM from 29 September 1995 to 26 October 1995 and the second broadcast was on 106.2 FM from 22 April 1996 to 19 May 1996. DemonFM continued to broadcast on Restricted Service Licences until 2008 with the last of the RSL broadcasts taking place on 97.5FM. DemonFM finished their 26th and final RSL on 30 November 2008.

Tuks FM is a volunteer, campus station, meaning that it is completely operated by students, save for upper management.
Cape Town TV is a community television channel that broadcasts in Cape Town, South Africa. It launched in September 2008 with a one-year, "temporary" license and thereafter won another such license in September 2009. It is a non-profit organisation that is licensed as a community broadcaster in terms of South Africa's Electronic Communications Act.
Canterbury Student Radio (CSR FM) is a membership based student and community radio station based in Canterbury, England. It is currently funded by Kent Union based at the University of Kent. When actively broadcasting, the radio station airs a mixture of live and pre-recorded programming from Studio Red based in the Student Media Centre on the main campus 24 hours a day.
Green Campus Initiative (GCI), is a student organisation within the University of Cape Town. It aims to make UCT a sustainable and environmentally friendly institution. It was started towards the end of 2007 by Susan Botha, who had been working for the Namaqualand Restoration Initiative (NRI) at UCT. The initiative has its origins in the Botany Department, where Susan's work was based, but the organisation quickly grew to a campus-wide initiative. Susan is responsible for the formalisation of the GCI, including the naming of the organisation, the formation of a group on Vula, the articulation of a specific aim for the organisation, as well as the founding and co-execution of many of the first projects. These first projects included the implementation of campus-wide recycling; the organisation of UCT's first Green Week; the Building-to-Building Roadshow initiative and the promotion and implementation of carpooling. Each year a new GCI committee is elected, which includes portfolios that run the different projects. As of September 2010, the GCI has over 1500 members on Vula, of which approximately 100 are actively participating in projects.
The United Nations Association of South Africa University of Cape Town is an official chapter of the United Nations Association of South Africa (UNASA) and affiliated to the World Federation of United Nations Associations. UNASA UCT is a registered political society at the University of Cape Town. Radio Laeveld is an Afrikaans-language radio station broadcasting on 100.5 FM in the Lowveld area of Mpumalanga, South Africa. It received its first four-year broadcast licence on 1 March 2003 and began broadcasting 31 May 2003. Broadcasting mainly in Afrikaans and in English. The footprint covers roughly a 100km radius from Nelspruit in Mpumalanga. #FeesMustFall was a student-led protest movement that began in mid-October 2015 in South Africa. The goals of the movement were to stop increases in student fees as well as to increase government funding of universities. Protests started at the University of Witwatersrand and spread to the University of Cape Town and Rhodes University before rapidly spreading to other universities across the country. Although initially enjoying significant public support the protest movement started to lose public sympathy when the protests started turning violent.

The 2021 Table Mountain fire is a major fire that started on 18 April 2021 in and around Table Mountain National Park and the neighbourhoods of Newlands, Rosebank, Mowbray and Rondebosch in Cape Town, South Africa. The damage to sites in the Table Mountain area included the Rhodes Memorial, where a restaurant burned down; the upper campus of the University of Cape Town (UCT), where the Special Collections library was gutted; and Mostert's Mill, a historic windmill that burned down. In addition, five firefighters were hospitalised.
