The Utica Blizzard were a professional ice hockey team from Utica, New York, and member of the Colonial Hockey League (CoHL) from 1994 to 1997. The Blizzard replaced the Utica Bulldogs after the team had to be taken over by the league in the middle of the previous season due to mismanagement. The Blizzard were owned by Jeff Croop and Ric Seiling was the team's first head coach, who also appeared in one of the team's games as emergency replacement player. [1]

In 1997, the team and Utica Memorial Auditorium did not come to terms on new lease agreement and relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as the Winston-Salem IceHawks for the 1997–98 season. [2]

The Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium is a 3,860-seat multi-purpose arena in Utica, New York, with a capacity of 5,700 for concerts. Nicknamed the Aud, it is the home arena of the Utica Comets, the AHL affiliate of the NHL's New Jersey Devils, and Utica City FC of the Major Arena Soccer League.

The Atlantic Coast Hockey League (ACHL) was a minor league hockey organization that operated between 1981 and 1987. The league was founded by Bill Coffey. The Bob Payne Trophy was awarded to the team who won the league playoff championship.

The Flint Bulldogs were a professional hockey team in Flint, Michigan, from 1991 to 1993. They were a part of the Colonial Hockey League (CoHL) and played their home games at the IMA Sports Arena. They compiled an overall record of 47–66–7 (.421). After the 1993 season, the Bulldogs relocated to Utica, New York, and became the Utica Bulldogs, but were taken over by the league partway through the 1993–94 season due to mismanagement of general manager Skip Probst. The following season, the league awarded a new team to Utica called the Utica Blizzard.

The 1976 Memorial Cup occurred from May 9 to 16 at the Montreal Forum in Montreal, Quebec. It was the 58th annual Memorial Cup competition and determined the major junior ice hockey champion of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). Participating teams were the winners of the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League which were the Hamilton Fincups, Quebec Remparts and New Westminster Bruins. The Mohawk Valley Prowlers were a minor professional ice hockey based in Utica, New York, as a member of the United Hockey League (UHL) that played from 1998 to 2001. The Dayton Ice Bandits' franchise was purchased and relocated following the relocation of the Utica Blizzard in 1997. In February 2001, the team were forced to fold by the league in the middle of the 2000–01 season as the team was $2 million in debt, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and could not pay the players' wages leading to a player strike on February 11, 2001.

The Utica Mohawks are a defunct professional ice hockey team that played from 1978 to 1980 in the Eastern Hockey League. Based in Utica, New York, the team played its home games at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The team moved to Salem, Virginia and became the Salem Raiders for the 1980–81 season. The team would be replaced by the Mohawk Valley Stars the following season in the newly formed Atlantic Coast Hockey League.
