Vicor Music Corporation is a Filipino record label. The name is a combination of the founders' first names. It is currently owned by Viva Music Group, a subsidiary of Viva Communications. [1] [2] [3]
Vicor was found by cousins Vic del Rosario and Orly Ilacad in 1966. They bought a small office in a building along Raon. Its first talent was Orly's band Orly and The Ramrods. During its first decade, Vicor helped establish the careers of Boy Mondragon, Eddie Peregrina, Helen Gamboa, Norma Ledesma, Jeanne Young (daughter of Mila del Sol), Jose Mari Chan, Tirso Cruz III, Victor Wood, Vilma Valera, Vilma Santos and Pilita Corrales, as well as composers George Canseco, Willy Cruz, Ryan Cayabyab, Tito Sotto, Rey Valera and Louie Ocampo. In a span of few years, Vicor became the most successful independent record label in the country. [4]
In 1977, Ilacad left Vicor due to business differences and founded OctoArts International (now known as PolyEast Records). Vicor maintained its success and established the careers of Freddie Aguilar, whose hit song "Anak" was one of the finalists in the first Metro Manila Popular Music Festival (Metropop) in 1978, and Sharon Cuneta, who was known for her hit song "Mr. DJ".
In 1980, in order to save the company, del Rosario left Vicor, which was taken over by the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The following year, he formed Viva Films, with Vicor as its music marketing partner. It released several notable soundtracks, such as "Gaano Kadalas Ang Minsan", "Bituing Walang Ningning" and "Bagets". In 1988, Viva Records was established.
Vicor kept moving forward throughout the new millennium, though far from its glory days. It was this time when it pioneered Minus-one vinyl B-sides and Videoke VCDs versions of the label's songs. Among its notable talents during that time is Ice Seguerra, known for his hit song "Pagdating ng Panahon".
In 2008, Viva acquired Vicor. It is currently under Viva Music Group. [5]

VST & Company was a Filipino disco band from Manila, Philippines, founded by Vic Sotto, Spanky Rigor, and Tito Sotto. Enrico de Jesus Puno, better known as Rico J. Puno, was a Filipino singer, television host, actor, comedian and politician. He was considered as a music icon in the Philippines. He started the trend of incorporating Tagalog lyrics in his rendition of the American song "The Way We Were" and other foreign songs. Puno was known as a singer who regularly infused his on-stage performance with tongue-in-cheek comedy and adult humor. The Viva Hot Babes are a Filipino pop girl group composed of actresses and models, founded in Manila by producer Vicente "Vic" del Rosario, Jr. in 2003. They were mainly spearheaded by actresses Maui Taylor, Katya Santos and Andrea del Rosario. The girls released softcore movies all under Viva Films, as well as a full-length album containing songs with double entendres and sexual innuendos with highly controversial meanings. The group rose to fame after the release of Hotstuff and Hotstuff 2 pornographic magazines, which created a stir in the early 2000s. Their debut single "Bulaklak" was one of the most controversial and critically panned songs of the 2000s, due to its double entendre and underlying sex themes.
"Rock Baby Rock" is a song by Filipino disco group VST & Company, written by Vic Sotto. It is part of a medley called "VST Concerto in A Minor" on the album VST 3. It was one of the group's biggest hits produced by the band themselves. Sotto said in an interview on PTV's Xiao Time segment that it was his most favorite VST song because he put a lot of effort into it.
"Magsayawan" is a song recorded by the Filipino disco group VST & Company, written by the songwriting team of Charo Unite and Ernie dela Peña. It was one of the group's biggest hits in the Philippines and was the only hit single not written by the group's principal songwriters, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon.
In the Philippines, the Minus-one is a variant mix of a multitrack recording, wherein the lead vocal track of a song is muted for further commercial "exploitation". In the Philippine recording industry of the 1980s, during the heyday of vinyl records, this variant was released as the "flip side" of a commercial song's 7-inch single, but generally never a part of the Long Playing album containing the full-featured song. Succinctly, a B-Side selection became referred to as "minus one" because the lead vocal track is subtracted from the A-Side song's original mix.
