Richland Parish is a parish located in the North Louisiana Delta Country in the U.S. state of Louisiana, known for its fertile, flat farmland, cane brakes, and open spaces. The name Richland was chosen due to the rich production from farming. The parish seat and largest community is Rayville.

Delhi, originally called Deerfield, is a town in Richland Parish, Louisiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town population was 3,289.

Name origin

The community was once named Richland but in 1929 Mary Southall, the local postmaster at that time, changed the name to Warden using the surname of a local resident. The name of the community was changed because mail was mistakenly being sent to another town called Richland. [2]
