Weightlifting competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China were held from August 9 to August 19. Competitions were conducted at the Beihang University Gymnasium.

The medal records at the 2008 Games were heavily amended following a re-analysis of competitors samples in 2015, 2016 and 2017. 26 lifters were disqualified due to these tests, including 16 medalists and four lifters who stood to inherit forfeited medals.

Approximately 10,942 athletes from 204 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) participated in 302 events in 28 sports.

This event was the eighth Weightlifting event to conclude.

The women's 75 kilograms weightlifting event was the sixth women's event at the weightlifting competition, with competitors limited to a maximum of 75 kilograms of body mass. The whole competition took place on August 15 at 15:30. This event was the ninth Weightlifting event to conclude.

The women's +75 kilograms weightlifting event was the heaviest women's event at the weightlifting competition, allowing competitors with over 75 kilograms of body mass. The competition took place on August 16, starting at 19:00.
