The West Coast Hockey Conference (WCHC) is an ACHA Division 2 and 3 club hockey league which began play in the Fall of 2010. The six charter schools were Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Northern Arizona and San Diego State.
The first game in conference history was played on October 1, 2010. San Diego State hosted Long Beach State and won 4-3. At the end of the regular season Arizona State was crowned the conference's first champion. [1] For the conference's second season and beyond a playoff will be held to determine the conference champion.
UNLV became the seventh member of the conference on April 16, 2011. [2]
After the 2011-12 season Arizona State, San Diego State and UNLV became independent once again leaving the conference with four teams for the next two seasons.
Cal State Northridge became the fifth member of the conference on February 25, 2014. [3]
Northern Arizona left to become independent once again after the 2014-15 season and Arizona State's Pac-8 team transferred over to keep the conference membership at five. [4]
Arizona State left to become independent after one season and San Diego State rejoined the conference for 2016-17. [5]
Chapman became the sixth conference member for the 2017-18 season. [6]
The WCHC announced on May 14, 2018 UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and the University of San Diego were approved as members and San Diego State left to join the Pac-8 conference bringing the conference total to eight. [7]
The conference reached a new high in members with the addition of Cal State Bakersfield and UC Irvine for the 2019-20 season. [8] In an effort to even out the skill level two tiers were created. Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount and UC Santa Barbara were placed in the top tier with the remaining five teams placed in the second tier. All top tier teams automatically qualified for the playoffs and the top two teams in the second tier qualified as well.
Cal Lutheran became a new member for the 2020-21 season while UC San Diego left the conference. CLU replaced UCSD in Tier II keeping total membership at ten.
After the 2021-22 season the WCHC expanded even further with Arizona State and Northern Arizona rejoining the conference and Grand Canyon, Santa Clara, Santa Rosa Junior College, UC Davis, UCLA and UC Santa Cruz becoming new members. San Diego also left which brought membership to a record 17 schools. With so many new schools the WCHC was divided into three tiers. Tier I consisted of six teams Arizona State, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Northern Arizona and UCLA. Tier II South consisted of seven teams Cal Lutheran, Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Chapman, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara. Tier II North consisted of four teams Santa Clara, Santa Rosa Junior College, UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz.
Fresno State joined for the 2023-24 season in Tier II North while Santa Rosa Junior College is not fielding a team.
Three teams joined for the 2024-25 season while Fresno State left the conference. The University of San Diego brought their team back while the University of New Mexico and Park University-Gilbert became two new teams to join the conference. The WCHC also allowed Arizona State, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount and Northern Arizona to bring their Division 3 teams into the conference. The new Division 2 Tier will consist of nine teams Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, UCLA and UC Santa Barbara. The top eight teams will qualify for the playoffs. The Division 3 Tier will consist of 12 teams split into three regions. Santa Clara, UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz will play in the North. Cal Lutheran, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, San Diego and UC Irvine will play in the South. Arizona State, Grand Canyon, Northern Arizona and Park-Gilbert will play in the Desert. Again the top eight teams will qualify for the playoffs.

The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) is a college athletic conference with members located mostly in the western United States, although it now has members as far east as Pennsylvania. The conference participates at the NCAA Division I level, primarily in Olympic sports that are not directly sponsored by a school's home conference.
The Big West Conference (BWC) is an American collegiate athletic conference whose member institutions participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The conference was originally formed on July 1, 1969, as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), and in 1988 was renamed the Big West Conference. The conference stopped sponsoring college football after the 2000 season.
The NCAA Women's Water Polo Championship has existed since the 2001 season. Seven conferences have teams competing in women's water polo: the Big West Conference, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA), the single-sport Golden Coast Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA). Some teams compete at Division III either as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference or independently. Teams qualify by either winning their respective conference tournament or receiving one of the few at large bids available. Unlike most NCAA sports, only one National Collegiate championship is held each season with teams from Division I, Division II, and Division III competing together.
The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. All of its current members are public universities, and upon UC San Diego's departure on July 1, 2020, all are members of the California State University system.
The Pacific Collegiate Hockey Association (PCHA) is a collegiate hockey conference within Division 2 of the ACHA. The PCHA has been in operation for more than 40 years and administers the PCHA Playoffs at the conclusion of each regular season. The winner of the PCHA Playoffs receives the coveted Adams Cup, named after Cary Adams who started the conference.
The Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) is a conference that participates in the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA). The WCLL operates in California, Nevada, and Oregon and is split into two divisions, Division I and Division II. The conference is governed by an executive board and the teams that win the conference's divisional playoffs receive automatic bids to the MCLA National Tournament.
The Cal State Fullerton Titans men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents California State University, Fullerton in Fullerton, California, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Big West Conference.
The 2011–12 Cal State Fullerton Titans men's basketball team represented California State University, Fullerton during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Titans, led by ninth year head coach Bob Burton, played their home games at Titan Gym and are members of the Big West Conference. They finished the season 21–10, 12–4 in Big West play to finish in a tie for second place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big West tournament to UC Irvine. They were invited to the 2012 CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they lost in the first round to Loyola Marymount.
The 2012–13 Pepperdine Waves men's basketball team represented Pepperdine University during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Marty Wilson's second full season at Pepperdine. The Waves played their home games at the Firestone Fieldhouse and were members of the West Coast Conference. They finished the season 12–18, 4–12 in WCC play, to finish in a tie for seventh place. They lost in the second round of the WCC tournament to San Diego.
The 2013–14 Cal State Fullerton Titans men's basketball team represented California State University, Fullerton during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Titans, led by first year head coach Dedrique Taylor, played their home games at Titan Gym as members of the Big West Conference. The Titans brought in a whole new coaching staff this season with Josh Smith, Robert Spence, and Danny Sprinkle joining Taylor as first-year assistant coaches. They finished the season 11–20, 6–10 in Big West play to finish in a tie for sixth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big West Conference tournament to Long Beach State.
The 2013–14 Loyola Marymount Lions men's basketball team represented Loyola Marymount University during the 2013–14 college basketball season. This Lions were coached by sixth year head coach Max Good. The Lions competed in the West Coast Conference and played their home games at Gersten Pavilion. They finished the season 13–19, 4–14 in WCC play to finish in last place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the WCC tournament where they lost to BYU.
The 2013–14 Loyola Marymount Lions women's basketball team represented Loyola Marymount University in the 2013–14 college basketball season. The Lions, members of the West Coast Conference, were led by head coach Charity Elliott, in her 2nd season at the school. The Lions played their home games at the Gersten Pavilion on the university campus in Los Angeles, California.
The 2016 BYU Cougars men's volleyball team represented Brigham Young University in the 2016 NCAA Division I & II men's volleyball season. The Cougars, led by first year head coach Shawn Olmstead, play their home games at Smith Fieldhouse. The Cougars were members of the MPSF and were picked to win the MPSF in the preseason poll.
The 2017 Big West Conference women's soccer tournament was the postseason women's soccer tournament for the Big West Conference held on November 2 and 5, 2017. The three-match tournament took place at Matador Soccer Field in Northridge, California. The four-team single-elimination tournament consisted of two rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Long Beach State 49ers, but they failed to qualify for the 2017 tournament. The Cal State Fullerton Titans won the title by virtue of winning the penalty shoot-out tiebreaking procedure following a tie with the Cal State Northridge Matadors in the final. This was the seventh Big West tournament title for the Cal State Fullerton program and the fifth for head coach Demian Brown.
The 2018 Big West Conference men's soccer season is the 36th consecutive season of men's college soccer in the Big West Conference under the 2018 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The season will feature eight teams, where one is an affiliate member of the conference. Sacramento State will compete from the Big Sky Conference. Colleges in the Big West will begin competition on August 24, 2018, and conclude on November 9, 2018 after the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. Prior to the NCAA Division I Tournament Championship, there will be a postseason conference tournament held at the university with the highest seed in the postseason conference tournament, where the winner is guaranteed to represent the Big West in the NCAA Division I Tournament. Hawaii and Long Beach State have defunct programs in this season.
Jason Gill is an American baseball coach and former shortstop and third baseman. He played college baseball for Cuesta College, Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Fullerton from 1991 to 1994. He then served as the head coach of the Loyola Marymount Lions (2009–2019) the USC Trojans (2019–2022).
The 2020–21 Big West Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2020, followed by the start of the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play began in January 2021 and concluded in March 2021. Games against UC San Diego were counted as non-conference games as their results were not counted in the league standings during their transition period.
The 2002 UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men's soccer team represented the University of California, Santa Barbara during the 2002 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos were led by head coach Tim Vom Steeg, in his fourth season. For the first time in program history, the team became nationally ranked during the season and made the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second round.
The 2022 BYU Cougars softball team represents Brigham Young University in the 2022 NCAA Division I softball season. Gordon Eakin enters the year as head coach of the Cougars for a 20th consecutive season. 2022 is the ninth season for the Cougars as members of the WCC in softball. The Cougars enter 2022 having won their last 12 conference championships and having been picked as the favorites to win the 2022 WCC title.
