Yousuf Khan Sher Bano was the first-ever Pashto film released in Pakistan. It was released on 1 December 1970. [1] [2] [3] It was directed by Aziz Tabassum and produced by Nazir Hussain, [4] with debut stars Yasmin Khan and Badar Munir.

The story is based on the Pashto folk story Yousuf Khan and Sher Bano . The tale has also been referred to as the Pashto version of Romeo and Juliet . [5]

Its music was composed by Lal Muhammad and Buland Iqbal, [6] while the film was written by Ali Haider Joshi. [7]

This first Pakistani Pashto language film completed more than 50 weeks in one cinema of Peshawar, Pakistan, [8] [1] and was met with a positive reception from the Pakhtun audience. [9] This film also marked the start of Pashto language films in the Pakistan film industry. [10]

Bahar Begum is an actress best known for many Pakistani movies since 1956. She was first introduced to the Pakistani film industry by the renowned film director Anwar Kamal Pasha in the film Chann Mahi (1956). Anwar Kamal Pasha is the one that gave her the professional film world name Bahar Begum. She later acted both in Punjabi, Pashto and Urdu language Pakistani films and had a very active career from 1956 through the 1980s. She has more than 600 films to her credit.

Sang-e-Mar Mar, previously titled Daasi, is a Pakistani drama serial that aired on Hum TV from 1 September 2016 to 9 March 2017. It stars Nauman Ijaz, Sania Saeed, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Kubra Khan in leading roles with Omair Rana, Paras Masroor, Uzma Hassan, Tipu Sharif and Kaif Ghaznavi in supporting roles. <i>Aurat Raj</i> 1979 Pakistani film

Aurat Raj is one of first Pakistani feminist film. Released in 1979, it was produced and directed by Rangeela. It is a satirical movie and was produced during the grim times for women under the conservative dictator, General Zia-ul-Haq's, socio-politically adverse dictatorship. Ahead of its time, it did not do well commercially at the box office.

Shamshad known by her alias Yasmeen Khan was a Pakistani actress. She was a popular actress who starred in many Pashto films. She was murdered on 15 April 1999.

Fareb is a 1993 Pakistani television series written by Mustansar Hussain Tarar it was produced and directed by Rashid Dar.
