The 1882 United States House of Representatives elections were held for the most part on November 7, 1882, with five states holding theirs early between June and October. They occurred during President Chester A. Arthur's term. Elections were held for 325 seats of the United States House of Representatives, representing 38 states, to serve in the 48th United States Congress. They were the first elections after reapportionment following the 1880 United States census, increasing the size of the House. Special elections were also held throughout the year.

The kelvin, symbol K, is the base unit of measurement for temperature in the International System of Units (SI). The Kelvin scale is an absolute temperature scale that starts from 0 K, the lowest possible temperature, then rises by exactly 1 K for each 1 °C. The Kelvin scale was designed to be easily converted from the Celsius scale. Any temperature in degrees Celsius can be converted to kelvin by adding 273.15.

The 1882 Michigan Wolverines football team represented the University of Michigan in the 1882 college football season. The team played no outside games. The captain of the 1882 team was William J. Olcott.
Members of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly who served in the 10th parliament of New South Wales held their seats from 1880 to 1882. Elections for the tenth Legislative Assembly were held between 17 November and 10 December 1880 with parliament first meeting on 15 December 1880. Electoral reforms passed by the ninth parliament had resulted in parliament being expanded to 108 members elected in 43 single member electorates, 25 two member electorates, 1 three member electorate and 3 four member electorates. In addition, electorates franchised on qualifications of occupation or education had been abolished. The parliament had a maximum term of 3 years but was dissolved after 23 months. Sir Henry Parkes continued as the Premier for the duration of the parliament. The Speaker was Sir George Allen.

The 1882 Yale Bulldogs football team represented Yale University in the 1882 college football season. The team compiled an 8–0 record, shut out seven of eight opponents, and outscored all opponents, 51 to 1. The team was retroactively named as the national champion by the Billingsley Report, National Championship Foundation, and Parke H. Davis.
