<span class="mw-page-title-main">Niels Gade</span> Danish composer, conductor, and music teacher (1817–1890)

Niels Wilhelm Gade was a Danish composer, conductor, violinist, organist and teacher. Together with Johan Peter Emilius Hartmann, he was the leading Danish musician of his day, in the period known as the Danish Golden Age.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Royal Danish Academy of Music</span> Music education institution in Copenhagen, Denmark

The Royal Danish Academy of Music, or Royal Danish Conservatory of Music, in Copenhagen is the oldest professional institution of musical education in Denmark as well as the largest, with approximately 400 students. It was established in 1867 as Kjøbenhavns Musikkonservatorium by Niels Gade – who was also the first rector –, J.P.E. Hartmann and Holger Simon Paulli on the basis of a testamentary gift from the jeweler P.W. Moldenhauer, and with inspiration from the Leipzig Conservatory and a conservatory founded by Giuseppe Siboni in Copenhagen in 1827. Carl Nielsen was a teacher in the period 1916–1919 and the rector during the last year of his life.

Nancy Dalberg was a Danish composer. Born into a wealthy family she studied under notable composers such as Johan Svendsen and Carl Nielsen, the later becoming a good friend and a significant figure in her life. Dalberg's musical output is modest. In addition to the orchestral works mentioned, she wrote around fifty songs, including three for voice and orchestra.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Johan Peter Emilius Hartmann</span> Danish composer (1805–1900)

Johan Peter Emilius Hartmann was, together with his son-in-law Niels W. Gade, the leading Danish composer of the 19th century, a period known as the Danish Golden Age. According to Alfred Einstein, he was "the real founder of the Romantic movement in Denmark and even in all Scandinavia". J.P.E. Hartmann was the third generation of composers in the Danish musical Hartmann family.

The Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, also known as the Tivoli Symphony Orchestra, is a Danish symphony orchestra which both serves as a regional orchestra for the region of Zealand and as resident orchestra in the Tivoli Concert Hall, for the summer season while the Tivoli Gardens are open.

Niels Hemmingsens Gade is a street in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. The street runs from the western part of Amagertorv in the south to Skindergade in the north, passing Gråbrødretorv on the way. The Church of the Holy Ghost is located on the street. The street is named after the 16th-century Lutheran theologian Niels Hemmingsen.

The Statue of Niels W. Gade is a statue of Danish composer Niels W. Gade located in Østre Anlæg in Copenhagen, Denmark. It depicts Gade in the process of conducting Elverskud, one of his most famous works. The monument was originally located on Sankt Annæ Plads but moved to its current location in May 1934.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Niels Hemmingsens Gade 32</span>

Niels Hemmingsens Gade 32 is a historic building in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built in the first half of the 1740s. A brewery was for more than one hundred years operated in a rear wing. Brødrene Cloëtta, one of Denmark's leading chocolate manufacturers of its day, was based in the building from 1865 until 1901. The three-winged building complex was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1981. A gilded Neptune figure is seen above the gateway and the keystone features the names of the first owners. Notable former residents include the naval officers Poul de Løvenørn and Peter Nicolay Skibsted, the businessman Conrad Hauser and the linguist Rasmus Rask.
