This was the second season of the club that was to become Arsenal F.C. [1] In this season they moved from the common of Plumstead Ground to the privately owned Sportsman Ground, in order to charge an entrance fee to view games. The nearby Sportsman Pub was used as a dressing room. [2] This season was notable for their inaugural participation in the London Senior Cup, and home and away games against enduring rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.

Management

There was no manager for the 1887-88 season, though Fred Beardsley, Arthur Brown (both players) and Duncan Porteous [3] were positioned as joint-secretaries amongst others, after Elijah Watkins left the position of secretary at the beginning of the season. [2]

Charles James Ambler, born Charles James Toby, was an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He made a single appearance in the Football League for Royal Arsenal and had two spells at Tottenham Hotspur, making 20 Southern League appearances in his second spell. He also played, mainly as a reserve team player, for West Ham United, where he made two first team appearances, and later with Millwall.

The 2000–01 FA Cup was the 120th season of the world's oldest knockout football competition, the FA Cup. The competition was won by Liverpool, who came from 1–0 behind against Arsenal to eventually win 2–1 in the final. The 1994–95season was Arsenal Football Club's 69th consecutive season in the top flight of English football. Arsenal finished twelfth in the FA Premier League. The 1886–87 English football season was the first in which the club that was to become Arsenal Football Club competed. At the Dial Square workshop in the Royal Arsenal, Kent, munition workers agreed to expand the Dial Square Cricket Club to incorporate an amateur football team – Dial Square Football Club. Among the several workers who helped form the club, the men primarily responsible were David Danskin, Elijah Watkins and Fred Beardsley. The team played their first game on 11 December 1886 in Millwall against a pub team called Eastern Wanderers, Dial Square won 6–0 with unknown goal scorers.

The 1899–1900 season was Tottenham's fourth season as a fully professional club and the 17th year in existence. After overcrowding at Northumberland Park, Tottenham moved into their new stadium of White Hart Lane. Their first record game at the ground was a friendly in which they hosted Notts County with 5,000 spectators in a 4–1 spectacle.

The 1901–02 season was Tottenham's sixth season as a fully professional club and their 19th year in existence. They competed in three leagues and the FA Cup. The primary focus was the Southern League with a midweek feature in the Western League. The club also competed in the London League for the first time with their reserve players.

The 1902–03 season was Tottenham's seventh season as a fully professional club and the 20th year in existence. They competed in three leagues, the main being the Southern Football League along with the Western League and London League, along with the FA Cup.

The 1904–05 season was Tottenham's ninth season as a fully professional club and the 22nd year in existence. They competed in two leagues, the main being the Southern Football League with a midweek game in the Western League along with competing in the FA Cup.
