Airdrieonians Football Club, more commonly known as Airdrie, were a Scottish professional football team from the town of Airdrie, in the Monklands area of Lanarkshire.

Motherwell Football Club are a Scottish professional football club based in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. The club compete in the Scottish Premiership. Motherwell have not dropped out of the top-flight of Scottish football since 1985, and have lifted one trophy in that time – the Scottish Cup in 1991.

1893–94 in Scottish football

1893–94 in Scottish football was the 21st season of competitive football in Scotland and the fourth season of Scottish league football. For the first time there were two divisions in the Scottish Football League, there was no automatic promotion and relegation but the bottom three clubs in Division One and the top three clubs in Division Two were subject to a vote of the remaining First Division clubs. This season also saw the introduction of the Highland Football League.

The 1993–1994 Scottish Premier Division season began on 7 August 1993 and was the last season of the twelve-team league, with three teams relegated to make way for the ten-team league the following season.

The 1996–97 Scottish First Division season began on 12 August 1996.

The 1992–93 Scottish Premier Division season ended in success for Rangers who won the title by nine points from nearest rivals Aberdeen and 13 points above third place rival Celtic to clinch five titles in a row. Falkirk and Airdrieonians finished 11th and 12th respectively and were relegated to the First Division.

The 1981–82 Scottish Premier Division season was won by Celtic, two points ahead of Aberdeen. The league was won on the final day of the season when Celtic defeated St Mirren 3–0 at Celtic Park on 15 May 1982. Partick Thistle and Airdrieonians were relegated.

The 1955–56 Scottish Division One was won by Rangers by six points over nearest rival Aberdeen. Clyde and Stirling Albion finished 17th and 18th respectively and were relegated to the 1956–57 Scottish Division Two.

The 1947–48 Scottish Division One was won by Hibernian by two points over nearest rival Rangers. Airdrieonians and Queen's Park finished 15th and 16th respectively and were relegated to the 1948–49 Scottish Division Two.

2013–14 Scottish League One

The 2013–14 Scottish League One was the 19th season in the current format of 10 teams in the third-tier of Scottish football. This was the first season of the competition being part of the newly formed Scottish Professional Football League after the merger of the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League. Queen of the South were the defending champions.
