The Batavia Muckdogs are a Minor League Baseball team, the Short-Season Class-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, based in Batavia, a city in Genesee County, New York, United States. Their home field is Dwyer Stadium in the city of Batavia. With a city population of less than 16,000, Batavia is one of the smallest cities to host a professional baseball team in the United States in the 21st century. The Muckdogs franchise was surrendered to the league prior to the 2018 season. The team will operate as a ward of the league until a new owner can be found, or, if a reorganization plan is approved, the team folds at the end of the 2020 season.
Oei Tiong Ham, Majoor-titulair der Chinezen was a Chinese Indonesian tycoon and the son of Oei Tjie Sien, the founder of the Kian Gwan, a multinational trading company. Born in Semarang, Central Java, Dutch East Indies, he became the wealthiest person in the Far East at the start of the twentieth century. Part of his wealth originated in his involvement in the sugar industry. He served as Luitenant der Chinezen in the Dutch colonial administration in Semarang, and was raised to the rank of titular Majoor upon retirement.
Batavia High School, or BHS, is a public four-year high school located in Batavia, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It was created by the merger of West Batavia High School and East Batavia High School in 1911 and is part of Batavia Unified School District 101; the East Batavia and West Batavia athletic programs merged in 1909. Since 2009, the school has added a new "D Wing" of classrooms, "E Wing" of music rooms, a fieldhouse, new athletic facilities, and an auditorium, which was completed in 2011.

Dutch East Indies city Championship was a national amateur football competition in Indonesia held between 1914 and 1930 before the formation of Perserikatan, organized by the PSSI, the Indonesian football federation. Tio Tek Ho, 4th Majoor der Chinezen was a Chinese-Indonesian bureaucrat who served as the fourth and penultimate Majoor der Chinezen or Chinese headman of Batavia, now Jakarta, capital of Indonesia. This was the most senior position in the Chinese officership, which constituted the Chinese arm of the civil bureaucracy in the Dutch East Indies. As Majoor, Tio was also the ex officio Chairman of the Chinese Council of Batavia, the city's highest Chinese government body.

He is best known today for his seminal Riwajat Semarang, 1416–1931, a historical overview of Semarang's Chinese community. He is cited by some as the first peranakan Chinese historian to write in Malay using the 'modern' historical method.
