The 1928 Tour of the Basque Country was the fifth edition of the Tour of the Basque Country cycle race and was held from 1 August to 5 August 1928. The race started in Bilbao and finished in Las Arenas. [2] The race was won by Maurice De Waele.

The Tour of the Basque Country is an annual cycling stage race held in the Spanish Basque Country in April. It is one of 37 races that make up the UCI World Tour calendar. As the Basque Country is a mountainous area, there are few flat stages, and thus the event favors those who are strong climbers. Most ascents in the Tour are not particularly high by professional cycling standards, but are often quite steep.

Getxo is a town located in the province of Biscay, in the autonomous community of the Basque Country, in Spain. It is part of Greater Bilbao, and has about 80,000 inhabitants (2014). Getxo is mostly an affluent residential area, as well as being the third largest municipality of Biscay.
