The 2009 Tour of the Basque Country, the 66th edition of the Tour of the Basque Country stage cycling race, started on 6 April and ended on 11 April 2009. [1] The race was won by Alberto Contador, making this his second Tour of the Basque Country victory in a row. The race was the sixth event in the inaugural UCI World Ranking series.

The Tour of the Basque Country is an annual road cycling stage race held in the Spanish Basque Country in April. It is one of the races that make up the UCI World Tour calendar. As the Basque Country is a mountainous area, there are few flat stages, and thus the event favors those who are strong climbers. The race is characterized by its short stages, rarely exceeding 200 km, and steep ascents. While the ascents featured in the race aren't particularly high compared to other stage races, they are among the steepest seen in professional cycling, some having sections with gradients reaching well above 20%.

The 2005 Tour of the Basque Country was the 45th edition of the Tour of the Basque Country cycle race and was held from 4 April to 8 April 2005. The race started in Zarautz and finished with an individual time trial in Oñati. The race was won by Danilo Di Luca of the Liquigas–Bianchi team.

The 2006 Tour of the Basque Country was the 46th Tour of the Basque Country road cycling race and was held over six stages from 3 April to 8 April 2006. It was won by Spaniard José Ángel Gómez Marchante of the Saunier Duval–Prodir cycling team.

The 2007 Tour of the Basque Country was the 47th edition of the Tour of the Basque Country road cycling stage race, taking place from 9 April to 14 April 2007. The race was won by Juan José Cobo of the Saunier Duval–Prodir cycling team.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Joaquim Rodríguez</span> Spanish road bicycle racer

Joaquim Rodríguez Oliver is a Spanish cyclist, who competed in road bicycle racing between 2001 and 2016 for the ONCE–Eroski, Saunier Duval–Prodir, Caisse d'Epargne and Team Katusha teams. Following his retirement from road racing, Rodríguez has competed in mountain bike racing and formed his own mountain bike racing team, Andbank–La Purito.

The 2008 Tour of the Basque Country, the 65th edition of the Tour of the Basque Country stage cycling race, took place from 7 April to 12 April 2008. It was won by Spanish rider Alberto Contador of Astana.

The 2010 Tour of the Basque Country, was the 50th edition of the Tour of the Basque Country cycling stage race. It started on 5 April and ended on 10 April. Chris Horner won the race 7 seconds ahead of Alejandro Valverde after winning the sixth and final stage which was an individual time trial 8 seconds ahead of Valverde. Valverde's results were subsequently removed after a retroactive suspension was applied.
