On April 15, 1945, a Curtiss C-46 Commando operated by United States Army Air Force crashed due to an engine failure, at least 30 or 40 occupants on board the aircraft were killed. [1]
The aircraft's occupants were undetermined; it was very likely to be with 30 or 40 occupants with four or five crewmembers. It was the worst plane crash involving a C-46 in Oman as well the deadliest plane crash in Masirah Island's history. The cause of the engine failure was determined unknown. At the time it was the worst plane crash in Omani history until Gulf Air Flight 771. [2]
