During the 1962–1963 season, Johnny Carson continued to host The Tonight Show on NBC, with Ed McMahon as his announcer. [1]

Meanwhile, ABC debuted The Jerry Lewis Show on September 21, 1963, [2] in the Saturday evening time slot from 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM. [3] The show was canceled after just 13 weeks. [3] [4]
