The Plastic People of the Universe (PPU) is a Czech rock band from Prague. It was the foremost representative of Prague's underground culture (1968–1989), which had gone against the grain of Czechoslovakia's Communist regime. Due to their non-conformism, members of the band often suffered serious repercussions such as arrests. The group continues to perform despite the death of its founder, main composer and bassist, Milan "Mejla" Hlavsa in 2001.
Tymon Dogg is an English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Dogg's career started early with shows at the Cavern and Peppermint Lounge in Liverpool when he was 15. As well as pursuing a solo career, he collaborated with many bands and musicians including The Clash, and was a member of Joe Strummer's last band, The Mescaleros.
Redgum were an Australian folk and political music group formed in Adelaide in 1975 by singer-songwriter John Schumann, Michael Atkinson on guitars/vocals, Verity Truman on flute/vocals; they were later joined by Hugh McDonald on fiddle and Chris Timms on violin. All four had been students at Flinders University and together developed a strong political voice. They are best known for their protest song exploring the impact of war in the 1980s "I Was Only 19", which peaked at #1 on the National singles charts. The song is in the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) list of Top 30 of All Time Best Australian Songs created in 2001.

The song, written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, was recorded at RCA Victor Studio B in Hollywood on July 25, 1966, and was already on the Boss Hit Bounds on August 17, 1966. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 on November 5, 1966. Lead vocals were performed by the Monkees' drummer Micky Dolenz. "Last Train to Clarksville" was featured in seven episodes of the band's television series, the most for any Monkees song.

Cynic is an American band whose work has incorporated elements of progressive rock, alternative rock, and extreme metal. Founded in Miami, Florida. Founding members Paul Masvidal and Sean Reinert publicly revealed their homosexuality in May 2014, a move that was broadly supported by the heavy metal community. Their first album, Focus, released on September 14, 1993, is widely regarded as a landmark release of the progressive metal genre. Cynic disbanded in 1994, but reunited in 2006, and released their second album on November 17, 2008. Traced in Air was released through French label Season of Mist, followed up by an EP titled Re-Traced on May 18, 2010 and an EP titled Carbon-Based Anatomy on November 11, 2011. Their third studio album, Kindly Bent to Free Us, was released on February 14, 2014. In December 2017, after two years of an uncertain future, Reinert confirmed his split from Cynic, leaving Masvidal as the only remaining original member left.
Ścianka is a Polish rock band formed in 1994 in Sopot by guitarist Maciej Cieślak. In 1998 Ścianka were signed by independent label Biodro Records and recorded their debut album entitled Statek kosmiczny Ścianka. After its release, the group received critical and audience acclaim. Their next full-length album, Dni wiatru, moved away from the garage-rock sound of their debut album.
Statek kosmiczny Ścianka released in 1998 was the debut album of Polish rock group Ścianka. The album was recorded in Maciek Cieślak's home studio in Sopot. It received a Fryderyk Award nomination in "Debut of the year" category and was awarded best debut album of the year by Tylko Rock magazine. There were no singles promoting the album, but "Skuter" received the status of Ścianka's biggest hit among their fans. "Skuter" was also chosen by Artur Rojek to be official song for the 2nd Off Festival in 2007.
Miłość was a Polish free jazz band. The band was founded in 1988 by Ryszard Tymon Tymański, double bassist and guitarist, former leader of new wave group Sni Sredstvom Za Uklanianie. Miłość played free jazz with avantgarde influences and gave birth to, among others, the Tricity and Bydgoszcz jazz bands, and to a style called yass. Miłość recorded two albums with the legendary jazzman Lester Bowie: "Not Two" (1995) and "Talkin' About Life and Death" (1999). The band split up after Olter's death in 2002.

Kury was a Polish rock group. The band was founded in 1992 by Ryszard Tymon Tymański. Kury played experimental rock music and their style evolved in time towards a more electronic direction. Their album P.O.L.O.V.I.R.U.S., released in 1998, was a fictional compilation of pastiche songs deriding the condition of Polish popular music. After Jacek Olter's suicide in January 2001, the band continued its activity playing concerts with Jacek Stromski, Rory Walsh and Kuba Staruszkiewicz on drums. The last concert was in December 2003, after which Tymański disbanded the group. The last album containing live recordings entitled Martwe gitary was released in 2008.

In almost 40 years since its founding, the band has released 9 studio albums, the latest being 2011 reunion release Kad svira rock 'n' roll, two singles and several compilation albums.
