Aminu Kano was a Muslim politician from Nigeria born at Sudawa, Gwale Local Government and resided at Gwammaja, Dala Local Government. In the 1940s he led a socialist movement in the northern part of the country in opposition to British rule. The Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, and the Aminu Kano College of Islamic Studies all in Kano, are named after him. He was a relative to the father of former Head of State Murtala Mohammed, former Minister of Defense Inuwa Wada and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Aminu Bashir Wali.

Bello Hayatu Gwarzo is a Nigerian politician who was a member of the Nigerian Senate from 1999 to 2015. He was the Senate Chief Whip from 2011 to 2015.

He was a Senator in the Second Nigerian Republic and was elected governor of Kano State in October 1983, holding office briefly until the military coup on 31 December 1983 that brought General Mohammadu Buhari to power.

Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa was a Nigerian left-wing politician who was elected Governor of Kaduna State, Nigeria during the Nigerian Second Republic, holding office from October 1979 until he was impeached on 23 June 1981. During the Nigerian Fourth Republic he was leader of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), a coalition of opposition parties.

Muhammadu Inuwa Wada was a parliamentarian and minister of Works and Survey under the administration of Tafawa Balewa. He was a veteran parliamentarian towards the end of the Nigerian first republic and was given the Defense portfolio in 1965 after the death of Muhammadu Ribadu. He was first elected in 1951 as a member of the Northern House of Assembly, he was subsequently nominated to the Federal House of Representatives and was a member and later minister from 1951-1966. Inuwa Wada was known by many as a quiet figure in contrast to the hectic demands of his ministerial portfolio in the Works department which was going through a period of increased focus on major developmental projects as part of a six-year plan during the early 1960s.

Abubakar Alhaji is a Nigerian administrator who is a former Minister of Planning and Finance. He currently holds the title of Sardauna of Sokoto. Alhaji was a long serving Permanent Secretary who worked with various Nigerian administrations.

Naja'atu Bala Muhammad is a Nigerian politician. Her father Alh Ali Abdullahi, a socialist an immediate with Aminu Kano. She is Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Nominee for Kano Central District Senator in 2007 Nigerian General Election She is also one of the first women to have served as president of the National Students Union Nigeria in the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) and also the first female Vice - President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

Government College, Birnin Kudu is a secondary school in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State. Founded as a middle school in 1947 by the regional government, the college has some notable alumni. including five governors and industrialist Aliko Dangote.

The 2023 Kano State gubernatorial election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Kano State, concurrent with elections to the Kano State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term. Abba Kabir Yusuf of New Nigerian People won the election.

Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar LLB, BL is a Nigerian lawyer and current serving chief judge of Katsina State from 2018. He administered the oath of office to the current governor of Katsina State Rt. Hon. Alh. Aminu Bello Masari. He was the chairman of the Taraba State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal who declared Hajiya Aisha Jummai Alhassan of the All Progressive Congress (APC) winner of the controversial governorship election, 2015 in Taraba State.
