The 1986 Champions Trophy was a round-robin tournament where each team played the other once in a tournament worth £60,000 in prize money. [1] West Indies won all three of its matches, winning the trophy and UK£22,000. [2]

West Indies, their final opponents, beat Australia in the group stage but were bowled out for 138 in the final and lost by eight wickets on the Duckworth–Lewis method. West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle was named Player of the Tournament.
