Newly promoted Al-Raed carried on the Saudi tradition by getting relegated in their first season along with Al-Nahda who were relegated for the first time since the 1977–78 season.

Al-Riyadh SC is a professional football club based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It currently plays in the Saudi Pro League. It was established in 1953 as Ahli Al-Riyadh, then changed its name to Al-Yamamah and finally to Al-Riyadh. Best known for its football team, Al-Riyadh also have squads in other sports.

Hapoel Tayibe F.C. was an Israeli football club based in Tayibe. In 1996 they became the first ever Israeli Arab club to play in the top division. However, they were relegated at the end of their first season in the top flight, and folded in 2003 after three more relegations.
Al-Arabi Sports Club, also known as Al-Arabi Al-Saudi, is a professional multi-sports club based in Unaizah, Saudi Arabia. The football team competes in the Saudi First Division League, the second tier of Saudi football.
Al-Shabab became the first club to win the championship for three seasons in succession when defeating Al-Hilal in the championship match. Promoted side Al-Najma were relegated alongside Al-Ta'ee.
