Al-Arabi Sports Club, also known as Al-Arabi Al-Saudi, is a professional multi-sports club based in Unaizah, Saudi Arabia. The football team competes in the Saudi First Division League, the second tier of Saudi football.

Al-Shabab became the first club to win the championship for three seasons in succession when defeating Al-Hilal in the championship match. Promoted side Al-Najma were relegated alongside Al-Ta'ee.

Al-Shabab won the championship again for the second time and the second time in a row after winning the end of season championship final on penalties against Al-Ettifaq.

In December 1990, the Saudi Federation decided to merge all the football League with the King's Cup in one tournament and the addition of the Golden Box. The Golden Box would be an end of season knockout competition played between the top four teams of the regular league season.

The 1982–83 Saudi Premier League was the 7th season of Saudi Premier League since its establishment in 1976. Al-Ittihad were the defending champions, having won their 1st title in the previous season. The campaign began on 16 December 1982 and ended on 8 April 1983. The number of teams in the league was reduced from the previous season. The league was contested by 10 teams, the top 5 teams from Groups A and B.

The 1976-77 season saw the start of the first ever top division professional football league in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

1977 was the second season of the Saudi Premier League of football.

The 1978–79 season was the first season involving foreign players. Al-Hilal won the championship for a second time.

The 1983–84 Saudi Premier League was the 8th season of Saudi Premier League since its establishment in 1976. Al-Ettifaq were the defending champions, having won their 1st title in the previous season. The campaign began on 5 October 1983 and ended on 17 February 1984. The league was contested by 10 teams the top 8 teams from the previous season as well as Al-Wehda and Al-Riyadh, who joined as the promoted clubs from the 1982–83 First Division.

1979–80 saw the fourth edition of the Saudi Premier League.

1980 saw the 5th edition of the Saudi Premier League.

1984 saw the 9th season in Saudi Arabian top-flight football. Al-Hilal won the title for the 3rd time and the first since 1979.

1985 saw the dawn of another new era in Saudi Arabian football with the league once again cut into two groups.

The 1986–87 Saudi Premier League season reverted to a regular home and away league format instead of the previous season's group phases.

The 2021–22 First Division League was the first season of the Saudi First Division League after its rebrand, and the 45th season of the Saudi First Division since its establishment in 1976. The season started on 6 September 2021 and concluded on 28 May 2022.

The 2022–23 First Division League was the second season of the Saudi First Division League after its rebrand, and the 46th season of the Saudi First Division since its establishment in 1976. The season started on 22 August 2022 and concluded on 29 May 2023.

The 2022–23 Saudi Professional League was the 47th edition of the Saudi Professional League, the top Saudi professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1976. Fixtures for the first half of the 2022–23 season were announced on 4 August 2022.
