The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a combination of the words "University" and "olympiad". The Universiade is often referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. The Universiade is the largest multi-sport event in the world apart from the Olympic Games.. The most recent games were in 2017: the Winter Universiade was in Almaty, Kazakhstan, while the Summer Universiade was held in Taipei, Taiwan. The next games are scheduled 2019 Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk, Russian Federation, between 2 and 12 March 2019 and the 2019 Summer Universiade in Naples, Italy between 3 and 14 July.
The World University Baseball Championship is an under-23 international college baseball competition sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and was first held in 2002 in Italy. Until 2013, it was sanctioned by the then-International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and was one of several tournaments considered by the IBAF to be a minor world championship, and as such the results of the tournaments affected the IBAF World Rankings. For its men's world rankings, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) -- successor to the IBAF -- now uses the results of WBSC's biennial 23U Baseball World Cup.
The 2010 World University Rugby Sevens Championship will be the fourth edition of the World University Championship (WUC) for rugby sevens national teams. This event will take place on July 21–24, 2010, in Porto, Portugal, at the Estádio do Bessa. Under the supervision of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), this championship will be co-organized by the Portuguese university sports federation (FADU) and the University of Porto, whose bid was chosen by the FISU Executive Committee on January 15, 2007, following a 15–6 ballot win against a French bid.
The World University Cross Country Championships is an international biennial cross country running competition for student athletes, organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The 2012 edition of the competition featured 76 male and 61 female athletes from 23 countries. Over the history of the event, 64 countries have competed but only three have been present at all editions of the championships.
The 2006 World University Cycling Championship is the 4th Word University Cycling Championship sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Cycling made his comeback after a 16-year absence as a university sport. The championship took place in Antwerp and Herentals, Belgium from March 22 to March 26, 2006. The city of Herentals is located in the geographic region of Campine, which is well known for cyclo-cross. The championship included 119 athletes and 54 officials from 17 countries. Athletes contested in a cyclo-cross race for men and four road cycling disciplines: a road race and an individual time trial for both men and women.

The championship was hosted by the Belgian city of Antwerp. Male athletes contested a road race and the individual pursuit on the track.
The 1986 World University Cycling Championship is the 2nd Word University Cycling Championship sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The championship was hosted by the Russian city, Moscow. Cycling athletes from universities all over the world competed in their disciplines to become World University Cycling Champion.
The 1949 World University Cycling Championship was a World University Cycling Championship not organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The championship consisted of a road cycling road race event and a team pursuit. Both were won by Jean Bobet from France.

The 2016 World University Cycling Championship was the 7th edition of the World University Cycling Championship. The tournament was hosted by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The championship proper took place in Tagaytay, Philippines from March 17–20, 2016 with the opening ceremonies held in March 16. It is the first FISU World University Cycling Championship to be held outside of Europe and the first in Asia.
The women's road race at the 2016 World University Cycling Championship took place in Tagaytay, Philippines on 18 March 2016. The race was 80 km long. 26 riders from 13 countries registered for the race. Half of the riders did not finish.
