The 1991 European Water Polo Champions' Cup was the 28th edition of the premier competition for European men's water polo teams. Defending champion Mladost Zagreb defeated Canottieri Napoli in the final to win its sixth title, tying with as the competition's most successful team. [1] [2]

Zsolt Varga is a Hungarian water polo player, who played on the golden medals squad at the 2000. He also participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics, where the Hungarian team placed 4th. He made his debut for the national side in 1990, at the European Nations Cup in Rome, Italy.

Tamás Faragó is a former Hungarian water polo player. He competed in all major international tournaments between 1970 and 1980 and won three medals at the Summer Olympics and five at the world and European championships. He was the top goalscorer at the 1976 Olympics, with 22 goals. After retiring from competitions he became a water polo coach, guiding Hungary's junior and women's national teams. In 1993 he was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame, and in 2005 he was voted the Hungarian coach of the year.

Milan Aleksić is a Serbian water polo center back who plays for Partizan and the Serbia men's national water polo team. He is a 2016 and 2020 Olympic champion and a 2012 Olympic bronze medalist. He also held the world title in 2009 and 2015 and European title in 2012, 2014 and 2016. His most notable achievements in a club competition are the LEN Euroleague and the LEN Supercup which he won in 2011 with Partizan Raiffeisen.
Montenegrin water polo clubs have participated in the LEN competitions since the season 1986-97.
The first team which ever competed at the European cups was VK Primorac Kotor. Except them, in LEN competitions played also PVK Jadran Herceg Novi, VK Budva, VA Cattaro Kotor and PVK Val Prčanj.
The biggest success in the history of Montenegrin waterpolo was that of VK Primorac, who won the title in LEN Champions League 2009. Another Montenegrin holder of European trophy is VA Cattaro.
