The America East Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I whose members are located in the Northeastern United States.
Jerold Taylor "Jay" Wright Jr. is an American former college basketball coach. He served as the head coach of Villanova University from 2001 until 2022. Wright led the Villanova Wildcats to six Big East Conference championships and 16 NCAA tournament appearances in 21 seasons as head coach. Under Wright, Villanova reached four Final Fours and won two national championships in 2016 and 2018.
The Northeastern Huskies are the athletic teams representing Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. They compete in thirteen varsity team sports: men's and women's hockey ; men's baseball, men's and women's basketball, women's field hockey and volleyball, swimming, and men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's rowing, track and cross-country.
The Oregon Ducks men's basketball team is an intercollegiate basketball program that competes in the NCAA Division I and is a member of the Pac-12 Conference, representing the University of Oregon. The Ducks play their home games at Matthew Knight Arena, which has a capacity of 12,364. Then coached by Howard Hobson, Oregon won the first NCAA men's basketball national championship in 1939. They again reached the Final Four in 2017 under head coach Dana Altman, marking the longest span between appearances in NCAA history. The Ducks have made the NCAA tournament 17 times, and have won eight conference championships.
The 2005 America East men's basketball tournament was held from March 4–6 at the Binghamton University Events Center. The final was held on March 12, at Patrick Gym on the campus of the University of Vermont. Vermont gained its third consecutive berth to the NCAA tournament with its win over Northeastern. Vermont was given the 13th seed in the Austin Regional of the NCAA Tournament and lost in the second round to Michigan State 72–61, after upsetting #4 Syracuse 60–57 in overtime. Both Boston University and Northeastern gained a bid to the NIT and lost in the first round to Georgetown and Memphis respectively.
The 2002 America East men's basketball tournament was hosted by the Northeastern Huskies at Matthews Arena. The final was held at Case Gym on the campus of Boston University. Boston University gained its fifth America East Championship and an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament with its win over Maine. BU was given the 16th seed in the West Regional of the NCAA Tournament and lost in the first round to Cincinnati 90–52.
The 1995 North Atlantic Conference men's basketball tournament was hosted by the higher seeds in head-to-head matchups. The final was held at Daskalakis Athletic Center on the campus of Drexel University. Drexel gained its second consecutive America East Conference Championship and an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament with its win over Boston University. Drexel was given the 13th seed in the East Regional of the NCAA Tournament and lost in the first round to Oklahoma State 73–49.

The final was held at Daskalakis Athletic Center on the campus of Drexel University. Drexel gained its first overall America East Conference Championship and an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament with its win over Maine. Only the top-8 schools made it to the 1987 tournament, therefore excluding both Colgate and Hartford. Northeastern gained its fourth consecutive and sixth overall America East Conference Championship and an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament with its win over Boston University. Northeastern was given the 14th seed in the East Regional of the NCAA Tournament and lost in the first round to Purdue 104–95. Niagara University gained a bid to the NIT and lost in the second round to La Salle 89–81, after beating Seton Hall 74–65.

Northeastern was given the 11th seed in the East Regional of the NCAA Tournament and lost in the first round against Virginia Commonwealth 70–69.
The 1980 ECAC North men's basketball tournament was hosted by the higher seeds in head-to-head matchups. It was the inaugural tournament ever held for the ECAC North. The final was held at The Hart Center on the campus at the College of Holy Cross. Holy Cross gained their first and only America East Conference Championship in the first ever tournament as well as an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament with its win over Boston University. Holy Cross was given the 11th seed in the East Regional of the NCAA Tournament and lost in the first round to Maryland 84–78. Boston University gained a bid to the NIT and lost in the first round to Boston College 95–74.
The UConn Huskies men's basketball program is the intercollegiate men's basketball team of the University of Connecticut, in Storrs, Connecticut. They currently play in the Big East Conference and are coached by Dan Hurley.
The Stony Brook Seawolves baseball team represents Stony Brook University in NCAA Division I men's college baseball. Stony Brook currently competes in the CAA and plays its home games on Joe Nathan Field. Matt Senk has coached the team since the beginning of the 1991 season. The team has won the America East tournament six times in 2004, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2019. In 2011, the Seawolves claimed their first America East regular season championship. Stony Brook has participated in the NCAA tournament on six separate occasions, winning its first game in 2010.
The 2015 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 68 teams playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball for 2015. The 77th edition of the tournament began on March 17, 2015, and concluded with the championship game on April 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Duke defeated Wisconsin in the championship game, 68–63. Tyus Jones of Duke was the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
The 1994 North Atlantic Conference baseball tournament was held over two weekends, with the final round being played at Friedman Diamond in Brookline, Massachusetts. All eight of the league's teams qualified for the tournament, the format of which was best-of-three quarterfinals and a four-team double-elimination final round. In the championship game, second-seeded Northeastern defeated fifth-seeded Hartford, 5-0, to win its first tournament championship. As a result, Northeastern received the North Atlantic's automatic bid to the 1994 NCAA tournament.
The 1985–86 Northeastern Huskies men's basketball team represented Northeastern University during the 1985–86 college basketball season. Led by head coach Jim Calhoun, serving in his 14th and final season at the school, the Huskies competed in the ECAC North Conference and played their home games at Matthews Arena. They finished the season 22–9 overall with a 16–2 mark in ECAC North play to win the regular season conference title. They followed the regular season by winning the ECAC North Conference tournament to earn a bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 13 seed in the East region. The Huskies were defeated in the opening round by No. 4 seed Oklahoma, 80–74.
