The 1994 NAIA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament was held in March at Mabee Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 57th annual NAIA basketball tournament featured 32 teams playing in a single-elimination format. [1] This was the first the NAIA Tournament played at Mabee Center in Tulsa. For the previous 24 years (1975-1993), Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri had hosted the tournament.

The 1982 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 48 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 11, 1982, and ended with the championship game on March 29 in the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. A total of 47 games were played.
Mabee Center is a 10,094-seat multi-purpose arena, located on the campus of Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. The building opened in 1972 and was designed by architect Frank Wallace, who designed most of the buildings on the ORU campus. It carries the name of Tulsa oilman John Mabee, whose foundation donated $1 million toward its construction.
The 1974 NCAA Division I basketball tournament involved 25 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It was the first tournament to be designated as a Division I championship—previously, NCAA member schools had been divided into the "University Division" and "College Division". The NCAA created its current three-division setup, effective with the 1973–74 academic year, by moving all of its University Division schools to Division I and splitting the College Division members into Division II and Division III. Previous tournaments would retroactively be considered Division I championships.

This was the first year the field was expanded to 64 teams, from 53 in the previous year's tournament. The first tournament since 1969 tournament to do so.. It surpasses the 15 year gap between a fresh set of semi-finalist that was between 1947-1969. It would be the only time this would happen outside of Kansas City.

The 1991 NAIA men's basketball tournament was held in March at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. The 54th annual NAIA basketball tournament featured 32 teams playing in a single-elimination format. Oklahoma City became the champions after winning the final against Central Arkansas 77–74.

The 55th annual NAIA basketball tournament featured 32 teams playing in a single-elimination format. The 1991 finalists were again competing for the title in the 1992 tournament's last game. Oklahoma City again won against Central Arkansas (82–73).
