Íþróttabandalag Akraness is an Icelandic sports club founded in 1946 and based in the town of Akranes, west Iceland. Among the main sports its members can practice are basketball, football, golf, horsemanship, gymnastics, volleyball, bowling, karate, badminton, swimming and powerlifting. The football team plays in yellow shirts and socks, and black shorts.
Eiður Smári Guðjohnsen is an Icelandic professional football coach and former player who played as a forward. Eiður saw his greatest success in England and Spain with Chelsea and Barcelona respectively, where he won the UEFA Champions League and La Liga with the latter and the League Cup and Premiership twice with the former. Along with two spells at Bolton Wanderers fourteen years apart, he also played in Iceland, the Netherlands, France, Greece, Belgium, China, Norway and India in a club career lasting 23 years. He is regarded by many to be the greatest Icelandic footballer of all time.
Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur, commonly abbreviated to KR, is an Icelandic football club based in the Vesturbær district of the capital, Reykjavík.
The Besta deild karla is the top level men's football league in Iceland. The competition was founded in 1912 as the Icelandic Championship. Because of the harsh winters in Iceland, it is generally played in the spring and summer. It is governed by the Football Association of Iceland (KSI) and has 12 teams. By end of season 2022–23, UEFA ranked the league No. 48 in Europe.
Arnór Guðjohnsen is an Icelandic former professional footballer who played as a striker. He spent seven years with Belgian club Anderlecht and was the top scorer in the 1986–87 season. He is the father of striker Eiður Guðjohnsen and the grandfather of striker Sveinn Aron Guðjohnsen. His younger son, also named Arnór, signed for Swansea City in July 2017, at the age of 16.
Knattspyrnufélagið Fram is an Icelandic sports club, best known for its football and handball teams. It was founded on 1 May 1908 in Reykjavík. It was based at Safamýri, in the Háaleiti og Bústaðir district near Reykjavík city centre before slowly moving operations to the newly established Grafarholt district.

Ólafur Þórðarson is an Icelandic former footballer, who played as a midfielder. Ólafur is the former coach of Vikingur Reykjavik. He is the brother of Teitur Thordarson, former manager of Estonia when Ólafur played against them with Iceland in 1996.
Guðmundur Steinarsson is an Icelandic international former footballer who played as a striker. Steinarsson is currently assistant manager at Fjölnir. He spent the majority of his playing career with Keflavík, where he started his career in 1996, playing more than 250 league games for the club. Guðmundur has also had spells in Denmark and Switzerland with Brønshøj BK and FC Vaduz.

The Valur men's football team, commonly known as Valur, is the men's football department of the Knattspyrnufélagið Valur multi-sport club. It is based in Reykjavík, Iceland, and currently plays in the Besta deild karla, the top league of men's football in Iceland. The team plays it home games at Hlíðarendi in Reykjavík. The team's colours are red and white. Valur has spent most of its time in the top-flight of Icelandic football, spending only three seasons outside the top tier. Valur is one of the most successful football clubs in Iceland, with 23 Icelandic championships. It holds the record attendance for a football match in Iceland, with 18,243 spectators in attendance for their match against Benfica in 1968.
