The 1996 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Warsaw, Poland from 3 May to 11 May. The women's competition in the 64 kilograms division was staged on 7 May.

The World Weightlifting Championships is an event organised by International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The first competition, held in March 1891, was won by Edward Lawrence Levy of England.

Olympic-style weightlifting, or Olympic weightlifting, often simply referred to as weightlifting, is an athletic discipline in the modern Olympic programme in which the athlete attempts a maximum-weight single lift of a barbell loaded with weight plates.

Naim Süleymanoğlu Turkish weightlifter

Naim Süleymanoğlu was a Turkish world and Olympic Champion in weightlifting, who was nicknamed “The Pocket Hercules” because of his small stature of 1.47 m. In the 1988 Summer Olympics, he set a record by lifting 190 kg in the clean and jerk. He was awarded the Olympic Order in 2001. In 2000 and 2004, he was elected a member of the International Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame.

The weightlifting competition at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City consisted of seven weight classes, all for men only. The competition were held from 13 to 19 August 1968.

The men's 56 kg weightlifting event was the lightest men's event at the weightlifting competition, limiting competitors to a maximum of 56 kilograms of body mass. 2015 World Weightlifting Championships

The 2015 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Houston, United States. The event took place from November 19 to 28, 2015. This event was, together with the 2014 World Weightlifting Championships, the first stage of the Qualification Process for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Gergana Kirilova is a Bulgarian female weightlifter, competing in the 63 kg category and representing Bulgaria at international competitions. She competed at world championships, most recently at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships.
