The 1997 Men's Hockey Junior World Cup was the sixth edition of the Hockey Junior World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's national under-21 national field hockey teams organized by the International Hockey Federation. It was held from 17 to 28 September 1997 in Milton Keynes, England.

Contents

Australia won the tournament for the first time by defeating India 3–2 in the final. Germany won the bronze medal by defeating England 4–2 in the third and fourth place playoff. [1]

The men's field hockey tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics was the 18th edition of the field hockey event for men at the Summer Olympic Games. It was held over a fourteen-day period beginning on 20 July, and culminating with the medal finals on 2 August. Games were played at the Herndon Stadium and the Panther Stadium, both located in Atlanta, United States.

The 2009 Hockey Junior World Cup was the ninth tournament of the Hockey Junior World Cup. The tournament was co-hosted in both Johor Bahru, Malaysia and Singapore from June 7 to June 21, 2009. It was contested by 20 teams with Germany defeating Netherlands in the final to claim their fifth Junior World Cup title.

Men's field hockey at the 2006 Commonwealth Games took place between 17 March and 25 March. The competition consisted of a round robin stage of two groups of five with the winners and runners-up of each group qualifying for the semifinals. The 2013 Men's Hockey Junior World Cup was the 10th edition of the Hockey Junior World Cup for men, an international field hockey tournament. It was held between 6 and 15 December 2013 in New Delhi, India.

From this year on the tournament began to be held biennially due to the introduction of the Hockey World League, returning to its original format changed in 1980.

The 2000 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the tenth edition of field hockey tournament the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Pakistan won their successive second title after beating South Korea 1-0 with a late minute goal by Kamran Ashraf in the final becoming the first side to retain the Azlan Shah Cup since its inaugural edition. Pakistan's captain and goalkeeper Ahmed Alam was voted as player of the tournament.
