The 1998 Arab Super Cup was an international club competition played by the winners and runners up of the Arab Club Champions Cup and Arab Cup Winners' Cup. It was the fifth edition and was won by Egyptian side Al-Ahly. It was the second time that the host team had not won the championship. Club Africain, the hosts, were runners up. [1]

Espérance Sportive de Tunis, also known as ES Tunis and Espérance ST, is a Tunisian professional sports club based in Bab Souika neighbourhood of Tunis, Tunisia. The club was founded in 1919 and its traditional colours are red and yellow. They play in Hammadi Agrebi Stadium. The club is mostly known for its football team, which is currently playing in the Tunisian Professional League 1, and is one of the most popular clubs in Tunisia, considered one of the continent's giants.

Stade El Menzah is a multi-purpose stadium, located in the north of Tunis, Tunisia.

The Tunisian Professional League 1, previously called the Tunisian National Championship between 1956 and 1994, is the top division football tournament in Tunisia under the organization of the Tunisian Football Federation. The first edition was held during the French protectorate of Tunisia, the 1907 season, under the auspices of the Federation of Union des Sociétés Françaises de Sports Athlétiques, and it was played in a knockout system, and the first official match in the history of the tournament was played on 9 June 1907.

The 1977 FIFA World Youth Championship was the inaugural staging of the FIFA World Youth Championship, hosted by Tunisia from 27 June to 10 July 1977, in three venues — Tunis, Sousse and Sfax. The 28 matches played were the smallest number in tournament history. The USSR U20, defeated Mexico U20 in a penalty shootout, in the final held at Tunis's Stade El Menzah.

Almahalla Sports Club is a Libyan football club based in Tripoli, Libya. The club won two Libyan Premier League titles in a successful period in the late 1990s. In Tunisian football, the Tunis derby is the local derby between the two major clubs in the city of Tunis, Tunisia – Club Africain and Espérance de Tunis. The derby is played in Tunis in the Hammadi Agrebi stadium due to its larger capacity of 60,000 seats. Before the construction of this stadium, the derby used to be played in the 45,000 seat-capacity Stade El Menzah.

The 1986 Arab Club Champions Cup was played in the African half of the Arab world for the first time, in Tunis, Tunisia. Al-Rasheed won the championship for the 2nd time, defending their championship and becoming the first side to win the title outside of their homeland in the process.

The 1996 Arab Super Cup was an international club competition played by the winners and runners up of the Arab Club Champions Cup and Arab Cup Winners' Cup. It was the third edition of the tournament to be played. Espérance de Tunis were crowned champions, with Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Riyadh runner up. Also represented were Al-Hilal, also of Saudi Arabia. It is unclear why Al-Riyadh took part in the competition as they weren't represented as either champions or runners up of the Arab Club Champions Cup or Arab Cup Winners' Cup.

The 1988 Arab Club Champions Cup was played in United Arab Emirates in the city of Sharjah. Al-Ettifaq won the championship for the first time beating in the final Club Africain.

The 1995 Arab Cup Winners' Cup was the sixth edition of the Arab Cup Winners' Cup held in Sousse, Tunisia between 29 Sep – 12 Oct 1995. The teams represented Arab nations from Africa and Asia. Club Africain won the final against ES Sahel, both from Tunisia.

The 1993 Arab Club Champions Cup was played in Tunisia in the city of Tunis. Espérance de Tunis won the championship for the first time beating Al-Muharraq in the final.

7th November Cup was an international friendly football tournament that played every two years between 1991 and 1995. It was part of the November 7, 1987, commemoration ceremonies of former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. Three editions played in 1991, 1993 and 1995, and Tunisia won all of them.
