The men's singles draw was won by Chris Bray. It was his first Australian Open title, and completed his career grand slam. [1] [2] It would be the fifth and final Open title of his career. He beat defending champion and incumbent World Champion Robert Fahey in the final in four sets. The doubles title was won by Bray and Steve Virgona, receiving a walkover from Wayne Davies and Paul Tabley in the final. The women's final was won by Prue McCahey, the first of five Australian Open titles. She partnered with Karen Toates to win the doubles.
