The 2003 South American Rugby Championship "B" was the fourth edition of the competition of the second level national Rugby Union teams in South America.

Contents

The tournament was played in Bogota, with four team participating.

Venezuela won for the first time the tournament, winning the direct match with Peru. Every team won at least one match. Brazil participate after lost, against Paraguay, the preliminary round for participating the 2003 "A" championship

Portugal qualified for their first Rugby World Cup in 2007 where they were grouped in Pool C along with New Zealand, Italy, Romania and Scotland. They are nicknamed Os Lobos, Portuguese for "The Wolves".

The Israel national rugby union team is governed by Rugby Israel, which oversees all rugby union in Israel. As of 1 February 2015, Israel is ranked 57th in the IRB World Rankings.

Chile national rugby union team

The Chile national rugby union team represents Chile in men's international rugby union competitions, nicknamed Los Cóndores, plays in red jerseys and blue shorts, and it's organised by the Chilean Rugby Federation. As of 2019, Chile has not qualified for a Rugby World Cup.

The Jamaica national rugby union team represents Jamaica in the sport of rugby union. The team have thus far not qualified for a Rugby World Cup, but have participated in qualifying tournaments.

The Trinidad and Tobago national rugby union team has thus far not qualified for the Rugby World Cup, but has participated in qualifying tournaments since 1999. They are classed as a tier-three nation by World Rugby.

The Colombia national rugby union team is classified as a tier three nation by World Rugby. They have thus far not qualified for a Rugby World Cup, but have participated in qualifying tournaments. Colombia made their debut against Mexico in 1996. In 2018, the Colombians won their first significant international honour, winning the inaugural Americas Rugby Challenge, the 'B' championship to the Americas Rugby Championship.

2011 Rugby World Cup – Americas qualification

In the American Region for Rugby World Cup Qualifying, two teams, Canada and USA, qualified directly to the world cup and the third place, Uruguay, entered a playoff against the third place European team and the second place African and Asian teams.

South American Rugby Championship refers to the continental rugby championships for South America, organized by Sudamérica Rugby. The current name of the championships is South American Six Nations, implemented in 2018. Throughout history, South American Championships have also existed for lower divisions of the rugby union championships, as well as youth and women tournaments, and editions for rugby sevens.
