The 2004 Men's Olympic Water Polo Qualifying Tournament was a tournament to decide the remaining three competing teams at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Water polo has been part of the Summer Olympics program since the second games, in 1900. A women's water polo tournament was introduced for the 2000 Summer Olympics. Hungary has been the most successful country in men's tournament, while the United States is the only team to win multiple times at the women's tournament since its introduction.

Igor Hinić Croatian water polo player

Igor Hinić is a water polo player from Croatia, who was a member of the national team that won the silver medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia and a member of the Croatian team that won gold in the water polo at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was also voted the Croatian national team's most valuable player. He currently plays for ENKA Istanbul (TUR), and is right handed. He is 6'8" tall and weighs 243 lbs. He enjoys Rock and Blues music, and he enjoys spaghetti. He is married to his wife Iva, and has two daughters, Anja and Gaiu.

André Luiz Pessanha Cordeiro is a water polo goalkeeper from Brazil. Nicknamed Pará, he competed in three consecutive Pan American Games for his native country, starting in 1999. Cordeiro won two silver medals at this event with the Brazil men's national water polo team. In the South American Games, "Pará", won five consecutive gold medals with Brazil Squad in the years of 1998,2000,2002,2004 and 2006.

Cosmin Radu Romanian water polo player

Cosmin Alexandru Radu is a Romanian professional water polo player who is currently playing for HAVK Mladost. Previously he has played for Primorje Rijeka, HAVK Mladost, Rari Nantes Florentia, Rapid Bucharest. He is also the captain of Romania's national team.

He was part of the Greek national team that won the silver medal at the 1997 World Cup in Athens, being voted the tournament's best goalkeeper.
