The Women's 10K race at the 2006 FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships was swum on Thursday, August 31, 2006, in Naples, Italy. It was the fourth event of the 2006 Open Water Worlds, and one of two events on August 31 (the other being the Men's 10K race). 31 females were entered in the event, 28 of whom swam. [1] [2]

She was a member of the 2012 United States Olympic team, and competed in the 400-meter freestyle at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The Women's 5K race at the 2009 World Championships occurred on Tuesday, 21 July at Ostia Beach in Rome, Italy. In total, 42 Women from 26 countries competed in the race.

The Men's 100 Breaststroke event at the 11th FINA World Aquatics Championships swam 24 and 25 July 2005 in Montreal, Canada. Preliminary and semifinal heats were swum 24 July; finals on July 25.

The Men's 5K race at the 2006 FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships was swum on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 in Naples, Italy. It was the second event of the 2006 Open Water Worlds, and one of two events on August 29. 30 men were entered in the event, 27 of whom swam.

The women's 200 breaststroke event at the 11th FINA World Aquatics Championships swam 28–29 July 2005 in Montreal, Canada. Preliminary and Semifinal heats swam on 28 July, with the Prelims during the morning session and the Semifinals during the evening session. The Final swam in the evening session on 29 July.

The American team competed at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships in Shanghai, China from July 16 to July 31. The United States topped the gold medal count in the competition with 17 golds and finished the competition with 32 total medals, behind China's 36. 16 of the 17 gold medals came from the swimming competition and one came from the open water swimming competition. Individually, Michael Phelps won the most overall medals in the competition with seven. Ryan Lochte won the most gold medals among the male competitors with five and finished the competition with six medals total.

The Women's 200 Freestyle at the 11th FINA World Aquatics Championships was swum 26 and 27 July 2005 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. On 26 July, preliminary heats and semifinals occurred, and on 27 July a final heat was swum in the evening. 64 swimmers were entered in the event, of which 62 swam in one of 8 heats. The top-16 swimmers from the preliminary heats advanced on to semifinals; the top-8 swimmers in the two semifinals heats advanced onto the next night's final.

The Men's 50 Butterfly event at the 11th FINA World Aquatics Championships swam 26–-27 July 2005 in Montreal, Canada. Preliminary and Semifinal heats swam on 26 July, with the Final on 27 July.

The open water swimming portion of the 2011 World Aquatics Championships was held between July 19–23 in Shanghai, China at the Jinshan City Beach.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ana Marcela Cunha</span> Brazilian swimmer

Ana Marcela Jesus Soares da Cunha is a Brazilian swimmer who specializes in the open water swimming marathon. She is considered one of the best open water swimmers in history, having obtained 14 medals in FINA World Aquatics Championships. She has also received FINA’s Female World Open Water Swimmer Of The Year award six times. Her countless achievements are comparable only to those of Larisa Ilchenko, another multi-medalist in World Championships.

Ashley Grace Twichell is an American competition swimmer who specializes in long-distance freestyle and open-water events. She placed seventh in the 10 kilometer open water swim at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Twichell's age at her Olympic Games debut, 32 years of age, made her the oldest American swimmer first-timer at an Olympic Games since 1908.
